  • Consumer psychology and Hansgrohe

Welcome to The kbbreview Podcast from Taylist Media, this is episode 27 and your host as always is managing editor Andy Davies.

First we have the view from one of the biggest brands in the sector-  Hansgrohe - and we’re chatting to UK managing director Jay Phillips. How does he see the market right now and what will happen in the future?

And we have Phillip Adcock, an expert in the psychology of shoppers and how retailers can steer their brains into thinking what you want them to think – in the most positive possible way of course – to make a series of marginal gains in terms of how confident they are in buying from you. Absolutely fascinating stuff.

  • BONUS - Do designers sometimes play it too safe?

Welcome to a special bonus episode of The kbbreview Podcast from Taylist Media.

In this extra episode, we have another dip into our other show – the Kitchen & Bathroom Design Podcast – where we’re just put up this episode all about ‘Safe Design’. If you like the sound of it, we’ve got another 26 episodes for you to go and binge.

All you need to do is search ‘kitchen and bathroom design’ in your podcast app or go to podcast.kbbreview.com and that link is in the episode description

    In this episode...

Do kitchen and bathroom designers sometimes play it too safe when it comes to the architecture of the space?

Is putting a farmhouse-style kitchen in a quaint cottage - or indeed an ultra-contemporary kitchen in a brand new apartment - the path of least resistance?

Is it a designer’s job to challenge these kind of conventions and produce the project that will come up with something that meets the client’s brief but also surprises them, in the best possible way, with something unexpected?

This all came out of blog written by designer Keith Myers of The Myers Touch in Winchester, in it he challenges this idea of ‘Safe Design’ and, put simply, asks whether or not your kitchen should match your house.

So we sat down with Keith to find out more about what he feels ‘safe design’ is, and we roped in another great designer Graham Robinson from Halcyon Interiors based in Wigmore Street in London to get his perspective.
