On May 10, 1973, a masked man entered a Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce branch in Kenora, Ontario, armed with firearms and a homemade bomb strapped to his body. What began as a bank robbery quickly turned into a public spectacle, broadcast live on radio as police, civilians, and hundreds of onlookers watched the standoff unfold on Main Street. When a single gunshot triggered a massive explosion, the robber was killed instantly leaving behind a scene of destruction, unanswered questions, and an identity that remains unknown more than half a century later.
