On May 16, 1937, Laetitia Toureaux boarded an empty first class carriage on the Paris Métro and, less than ninety seconds later, was found with a knife buried deep in her neck.
No one had seen her killer enter or escape that train car. The attacker seemed to simply vanished in an impossible murder scenario.
But wondering why she was killed, police dug into Laetitia's life, and they discovered that the quiet factory worker had another side to her, one involving secret surveillance, informants, and some of the most dangerous political circles in France.

In February 1978, 23 year old College student Steven Kubacki left for a cross country skiing trip near the frozen shores of Lake Michigan and never returned. Searchers found his skis, poles, and backpack neatly arranged near the shoreline, along with a trail of footprints that appeared to lead onto the frozen lake before abruptly ending.
Fourteen months later however, Steven suddenly reappeared more than 700 miles away in Massachusetts, carrying unfamiliar belongings and evidence of extensive travel while claiming he could not remember where he had been or what he had done.
