Also, Chico Kwasi puts on a performance of a lifetime by beating Beyond Kickboxing’s nr. 2 ranked Pound-For-Pound kickboxer Donovan Wisse. He cemented his legacy by becoming GLORY’s third multi-divisional champion.

Today we’re gonna take a look back to last year’s greatest fights, best moments and give out awards in the Best of 2025 in Kickboxing Awardshow. In this year’s award categories we’ve got some familiar ones and new ones (like best haircut of the year).

2025 was a fun year of kickboxing, but not without its flaws. GLORY centered its year around a hugely convoluted heavyweight tournament, a switch in K-1 leadership, Takeru losing by knockout, Rico Verhoeven’s exit from GLORY, sigh.. But at the same time we’ve got some incredible fights like Mory Kromah knocking out Bahram Rajabzadeh, an incredible K-1 World MAX tournament, the return of Antonio Plazibat, Yuki Yoza’s immaculate aura, and so much more!

This Saturday the promotion's posterboy Heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven is returning to defend his belt against former Light Heavyweight champion Artem Vakhitov. In 2024 a lot has happened. GLORY brought back the Grand Prix and dropped the 70kg division, while K-1 brought back K-1 MAX. It was arguably the best era for Featherweight and Light Heavyweight. With established fighters like Rico Verhoeven, Petch and Akihiro Kaneko showing why they are one of the best. And the future looks bright with upcoming fighters like Bahram Rajabzadeh, Miguel Trindade and Kacper Muszynski. What a year it has been! But was 2024 actually a good year for kickboxing?
