This is by far one of the most asked questions I hear.  So, can a Christian commit suicide and be forgiven?  Isn't that the unforgivable sin?  Would a real Christian do that?  It may sound controversial, however, it is time to speak about these things and correct our understandings on salvation and what being forgiven really means.  Not only that but for people to know also just exactly what the unforgivable sin is because Scripture is clear that it is not suicide.

Marcuss has covered the topic of Zacchaeus already but this is a Sunday teaching that is filled with a lot more information regarding this section of text in Luke's Gospel.  We have all grown up with children's church or Sunday school versions of bible stories and this has allowed us to come to a text later in life with presuppositions and leaves us to those assumed thoughts.  The nature, then, is assuming we already know the story, skim the text, and move along.  Although in this section there are only 10 verses there are many details Luke is giving that is important to consider and many that aren't there that we have been told are there!  We will see by comparing children's bibles and the various translations that Zacchaeus was a righteous man living in John's baptism of repentance and Jesus vindicating him in front of the crowd, instead of us taking the crowds accusation and Zacchaeus converting without any preaching or teaching from Jesus at all!

This is the fourth part in understanding Matthew 24 from a Preterist approach/understanding (fulfilled prophecy).  We have been examining the answer(s) Jesus gives.  To whom is He talking?  We need to remember the principle of audience relevance when interpreting the Bible to help us better understand what is taking place.  Of course, many see what Jesus is describing as "signs of the times", however, we must ask, did the Disciples and the rest of their contemporaries experience any of these things?  If so, what did that mean for them and what does it mean for us?

The biggest question in this section of text is what is the "abomination of desolation"?  By allowing scripture to interpret scripture, we will be able to get an understanding of what that is, esp from the book of Daniel.  We will also look at secular and church historical accounts to find the answer.

Two men, parallels, contrasts, type, anti-type, these are the things Paul lays out in this section of Romans chapter 5.  Marcuss has already "talked" through this, so here is a more in-depth look into these particular verses.  As much as we understand our union with Christ and being 'in Christ", it is as equally important to understand the union of humanity with Adam and being 'of or in Adam' just as much to get an even better understanding 'headship'.  In doing so, our grasp on understanding being born with the identification of sin, with the knowledge of good and evil, to being born again and being made a new creation and placed 'in Christ' (identification with Him) becomes even more foundational to 'the problem' and 'the solution' that is a part of The Gospel.

Alright, so we have looked at the problem, sin and our identity with sin.  Jesus did come to forgive sins, however, forgiveness of sins was something that already existed in the Old Covenant.  In Jesus, we have the Gospel and it is way more than forgiveness of our sins.  Yes, forgiveness is huge but in the Old Covenant, the identification with sin remained.  Jesus not only offers forgiveness but reconciliation and redemption.  To be made a new creation means to be a new creation and that changes our identification with sin to that of righteousness, in Christ.
