Nothing terribly special other than this "extra" episode for the month compensates for there being only one for January. Curious on what this weird crap is? Click on http://maggipicayune.net/wp/kmag-65
On this day, the Deep South's two mortal enemies were both born, Abraham Lincoln and Charles Darwin. I have to give credit for the joke to Emo Phillips, a fellow Midwestern Yankee! Enjoy this nod to America's third-dumbest holiday, President's Day! And if you're curious, go here to find out…Yes, yes, that is The Beatles in the mix. http://maggipicayune.net/wp/kmag-64
A musical Valentine from Austin! And celebrating 30 years in my adopted home. Want to know what is this song? Who is the artist? Which album can I find this on? http://maggipicayune.net/wp/kmag-63
The first episode of the year, a little under the wire but I think you'll find it worth the wait due to the new audio-based jokes. Plus we got a request! The first in a long time. Again, what is this crap? http://maggipicayune.net/wp/kmag-62
Farewell 2023, not a bad year and let's be excited about '24 despite the…ugh, elections and the annual exercise of The Economist getting it wrong again. Have a great time, please enjoy irresponsibly but watch the road. Meanwhile, if you want to know what is this crap? http://maggipicayune.net/wp/kmag-61
Nothing terribly eventful to go with on this mix other than those well-loved Rankin-Bass holiday specials. I remember how much the giant snowman used to scare me as a little kid. Now it's comical and I tear up at how sad the Misfit Toys feel. If you want to know the tracks http://maggipicayune.net/wp/kmag-60
This year's Xmas mix incorporates clips of the holiday going sideways or wrong or trying to avoiding it. As per the artwork, discomfort, conflict and just general dread.
Sixty years ago, Archie Comics rolled out a new female lead character with her own book…Josie! It was just a female version of Archie with a red-headed teenage girl instead of boy. Dan DeCarlo thankfully changed it up in 1969 by introducing Josie to Valerie and Melody and they became Josie and the Pussycats. Within a couple years, they were a hit Saturday-morning cartoon getting entangled into James Bond-like messes and then outer space. I only wish their satirical movie aimed really at Gen X did as well since the music was made for my generation, not the Mills it was semi-mocking. Oh, you can find the tracks here http://maggipicayune.net/wp/kmag-59
While the Halloween mix focused on the Nineties, this is a nod to the Seventies, namely Kolchak, with its great star Darren McGavin. Carl Kolchak was a Chicago reporter who sniffed out wild stories about the paranormal, the unexplainable and other wild, crazy stuff…all before the Internet! Thankfully, Chris Carter, Vince Gilligan and other Generation X TV writers loved this one-season, ABC show for it was "father" of The X-Files. You can find out what the tracks are here https://maggipicayune.net/wp/kmag-58
Hooray! Pizza Month is back! It was quite a search since the Aquabats are a tough act to follow. Please enjoy the latest compilation from my stream, collection and stuff. You can find out what the tracks are here https://maggipicayune.net/wp/kmag-57
