The year was 1945, and amid the bustling naval activity along the eastern coast of Florida, five Avenger torpedo bombers, known collectively as Flight 19, took off on a routine training mission. The pilots, led by Lieutenant Charles C. Taylor, were tasked with completing a navigation and bombing exercise known as "Navigation Problem No. 1." They were to fly east to practice a bombing run and head back to the airfield. The entire mission should have lasted just over two hours, but Flight 19 never returned.

November 24, 1971, and Dan Cooper sits onboard the Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 305, during a cold Thanksgiving Eve. 

It is about 3pm and Cooper orders a bourbon and soda, paying in cash and while doing so, passes a note to the flight attendant.

The attendant casually puts the note in her pocket without reading the content suspecting it to be the phone number of a businessman of whom she has drawn attention.
