Autumn seems to have skipped Suffolk and Winter has already arrived. Despite that, the boys brave it. The wind howls, the clay clings, and just as they're about to call it a day and head for the pub, something gleaming roars through the mud.

George takes Paul to a secret spot in the Fynn Valley where, in 1938, a huge hoard of late Roman coins was unearthed, treasure buried at the very moment the Empire was collapsing into chaos.
The glorious River Fynn is a picture-postcard part of the Suffolk landscape, but also hides dark and mysterious past — one marked by ancient mutilations and whispered legends.
So when the opportunity arises to investigate a freshly dredged stretch of the river, the boys can’t resist. What begins as a simple search for history soon takes a chilling turn — revealing something ghostly, unexpected, and utterly unique beneath the surface.

Something weird is happening in a field in Suffolk.
6 years ago George unearthed The Helmingham Hoard - the largest Claudian era hoard of gold and silver coins ever discovered.
Then, almost to the day, 5 years later, the boys recorded episode 1 and discovered another gold stater.
And then, another year later, George discovers yet more Iron Age gold. Same day, same field.
This calls for a very special anniversary episode of your favourite podcast about hunting for history...
With never-before-heard stories, fresh revelations, and plenty of laughs along the way — this golden anniversary episode is one for the ages.
Same time next year?

Following the remarkable discovery of a Bronze Age axe, the boys return to a previously untouched area of the beanstalk field to see what other evidence of historical everyday life they can unearth.
It's also the anniversary of George's greatest discovery - the Helmingham Hoard.
So what better way is there to celebrate than getting back out on a newly turned field, Suffolk rolling away around them, digging up old stuff with a story to tell, and a pint at the end (and the beginning) of the day?
Exactly. There is no better way to celebrate...

Off they trundle, detectors packed and hopes of discovering something incredible (and that they got their maths right) high.

With George's discovery of a lost Roman Villa officially confirmed by the archaeologists, the ancient landscape around the Villa Daisy site is slowly revealing itself.
When archaeologist Anna tells them more sites are out there, with the villa at their heart, waiting to be discovered, the penny drops for George - he knows about another field with unusual characteristics close by - one that seems to be where the local Romans went to drop their pennies too...

We've been away for a while, even though we are trying to release an episode every 2 weeks - but it's for a very good reason!
We've been out in one of George's favourite fields - home to a previously unknown Roman Villa, and one that we've had to wait a year to get back on. Could it be linked to Britain's largest Claudian treasure, the Helmingham Hoard? Who lived there? What did they leave for the boys to unearth? And it could it be the heart of a wider Roman settlement? All we'll say is... the answers to all of those questions are very exciting.

This week's adventure sees the boys trundle back to their mysterious Suffolk permission - where Roman roads lurk beneath the fields and a mighty stream promises secrets and soggy socks.
Paul's in heaven, surrounded by more stones than he knows what to do with - but ends up with some serious star finds, while George quite literally tastes history in the form of some highly questionable WWII era snacks.
George and the Beanstalk is muddy, mysterious, mildy traumatic - and totally unmissable.

And George and Paul do. Join them as they fire up their classic Land Rover and…
From ancient tracks and forgotten villages to ruined churches, local legends and the history beneath our feet, each episode begins with a place, a story or a legend — and follows the clues wherever they lead. Along the way there are remarkable discoveries, unexpected encounters, old maps, metal detectors, muddy boots, plenty of wrong turns and, more often than not, a pint at the end of the day.
This isn’t history viewed through a dusty museum cabinet. Its history held, unearthed in the landscape it happened.
