Grab yourself a baby and a shotgun and get ready to cook some fools as THE LAST ACTION HEROES PODCAST takes a bullet dodging leap back through time to the seedy underworld of 90’s Hong Kong for a bullet ballet of epic proportions.

Following a disastrous raid on a local teahouse(!?!) in which his partner was gunned down – along with most of the clientele – the job becomes personal for Inspector Tequila. As gun running mobsters fight a territorial war to exert a stranglehold over the city, our hero must now turn to his only lead if he hopes to crack the case and get his revenge; an undercover cop by the name of……………Alan. But Al has been working as a double agent for so long the lines of justice and criminality are becoming blurred. His loyalty to Johnny Wong and his thugs, and to the law will make him either a dangerous enemy or a formidable ally…just hope you don’t get a paper crane through the mail! Luckily for Tequila, gunfights are just another day on the job…and he can more than handle himself.

Action movies do not come bigger than this… Seriously can this movie even spell collateral damage?! But where will Inspector Tequila Yuen place in our action hero leader board? In our third episode of Season 2 we head into a 90s vision of the far future where everything is neon coloured and everyone is hot ‘n’ horny, as we join not one, but two heroes in their adventure to save the world: one a superpowered, genetically engineered bioweapon with fluorescent orange hair and a penchant for hand-to-hand combat, the other is Bruce Willis…in a vest…with a gun. Wait didn’t we do this film already??  Not quite like this…we’re talking the super stylish, euro sci-fi epic THE FIFTH ELEMENT (1997). 

200 years in the future an ancient, cosmic evil has re-remerged after 5000 years of laying dormant. Its purpose: to extinguish all life in the Universe (or just earth…haven’t got that bit quite figured out yet). In response an alien race of guardians has created a weapon to destroy it; 4 stones, each imbued with the elemental powers of fire, earth, wind, and water, must be united around a fifth element, a supreme being representing love and life. After inconveniently being shot down, killed, and resurrected with DNA cloning technology, our hero LEELOO arrives on earth ready to save the day. Teaming up with lovelorn, ex-military weapons (very much) and transport (not so much) expert KORBEN DALLAS our heroes find themselves in a race against time to recover the 4 stones and save the earth/ universe/ (multiverse?) from total annihilation, all whilst learning the value of life and love along the way. There may even be time for some smooching too! With each of our heroes bringing their own unique (well, Leeloo anyway) style to the action hero role, how will LEELOO and John McClane…sorry…KORBEN!! stack up in the ultimate action hero showdown? We are of course discussing JACK BURTON (who?!) from John Carpenters beloved cult classic BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA (1986).After making a delivery and catching up with some old friends in San Francisco, Jack Burton accompanies his friend Wang Chi home to collect on an outstanding debt. En route they make a detour to the airport to pick up Wang’s fiancée Miao Yin who is arriving from China that morning. But things go awry when Miao is very publicly captured by a Chinese street gang. Giving chase in his trusty truck The Porkchop Express, Jack and Wang trace the gang to a Chinatown back alley where things take a turn for the weird! As mysterious supernatural warriors seize Miao Yin for their master Lo Pan, our hero is suddenly swept into a world of Chinese mythology and black magic; a world he knows nothing about. Facing off against ancient supernatural powers, Chinese street gangs and strange monsters, Jack and Wang must rescue Miao Yin (and possibly, get Jack’s truck back in the process!!) before Lo Pan can reclaim his power and take over the earth.But has Ol’ Jack paid his dues? There’s only one way to find out. To kick things off we’re braving the American mid-west desert with loveable cowboys Val and Earl in the original sand worm movie TREMORS (1990).Despite its name not all is well in the sleepy town of Perfection. People are falling prey to giant wormlike creatures burrowing beneath the sands and our heroes are going to need to keep their wits about them (if they have any) if they are going to get out of here alive. The boys are back in town!
