The language sounds sophisticated, but changing the vocabulary doesn’t change the behavior. Your sportsbook is not an investment account. You’re still putting money on an uncertain outcome with the possibility of losing it. And for someone with a history of gambling addiction, that distinction matters.

Ryan breaks down how research, statistics, spreadsheets, betting systems, injury reports, and hours of analysis can create an illusion of control. Knowing sports doesn’t eliminate randomness, and doing more research doesn’t guarantee an edge. For someone struggling with gambling, that feeling of control can become part of the addiction itself.
