  • Episode 127 - E3 2019
A video game heavy episode, we bring you our thoughts from the recently concluded E3 2019. We go through all the ups and downs, the surprises and the unexpected Keanu Reeves appearance.
With the absence of Sony from this year's expo, it might seem fitting for the contenders to do some quick catch up. So all eyes on Microsoft, and the XboxOne especially, since there have not been any noteworthy announcements. We are expecting some significant exclusives and possibly talks of a new console.
Then there are the publishers and developers studios; specifically with Fallout76, Bethesda has some explaining to do. And EA, with how they plan to improve on the criticisms of Anthem. And fingers crossed. Hopefully, Ubisoft might reveal a new Splinter Cell, though that is highly unlikely.
Then we cap it off with Nintendo, who if anyone is paying attention have been teasing big things for the Switch in 2019. We are hoping for some news on a new Metroid Prime, but at this point, the company seems to be able to do no wrong.

  • Episode 126 - Batman 89 30th Anniversary
It's a special episode of the Last King podcast, where we celebrate the 30th anniversary of Tim Burton's Batman. Starring Micheal Keaton as the caped crusader and Jack Nicholson as the Joker. We look back at the film and also it's inspirations, from the campy television show to Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns.
While superhero films are in abundance today, there was a time when they were a burgeoning genre. And while Superman in 1978 proved that comics could translate well to the big screen, and bigger box-office returns. The world was not quite ready for the pop culture phenomenon that would arrive almost a decade later. So sit back and enjoy this retrospective look at one of the most influential films ever made.

  • Episode 125 - Dark Chernobyl Phoenix
This episode we talk the final chapter to the fox X-Men franchise, Dark Phoenix and the equally radioactive mini-series Chernobyl.
Closing out the Fox X-Men film series, Dark Phoenix takes a stab at the Phoenix Saga, done previously in X-Men 3: The Last Stand. Having rethinking continuity in 2014's Days of Future Past, it's the cast of first class now facing their version of Jean Grey's cosmic power. While the Brett Ratner film failed to stay faithful to the source, will this retelling learn from past mistakes?
And in our main segment, we review the 5 part mini-series Chernobyl. It dramatises the horrific events of the 1986 disaster, with a focus on the failures of government and bureaucracy. It uncovers the cause of the reactor failure, while simultaneously recounts the nationwide relief effort to save lives and contain the spread of radioactivity.
