  • The Last Supper - Movie Review
We do a movie with a namesake related to the holiday and discuss 1996's, "The Last Supper". It's about the type of people who think they are so smart and can fix everything wrong with the world if it weren't for the backward heathens preventing them. Their smug solution is of course: murder
Just like all the totalitarian dictators (democratic or otherwise), just on a smaller scale.
We hope you enjoy this unstructured, if lively discussion, where Robert and I are at odds on the film.

  • Billy Madison - Movie Review
Back to school. Back to school. To prove to dad that I'm not a fool.
    Hahahaha. Shut up.
We are back at it again with episode 69 of the podcast talking about the generational cult classic Adam Sandler flick, Billy Madison. This one is mostly talking about the ridiculousness of the plot and some of the funny quotes and bizarre scenes, but we hope you enjoy it.

  • The Big Lebowski - Movie Review
Where's the money Lebowski? We go over the line and talk about the Big Lebowski. A film that came out 20 years ago and still holds up to this day.
A strong cast of characters pulls this movie together with witty dialogue and comedy gold that is best watched under a strict regimen of intoxicants. We just checked in to see what condition our condition was in.

  • The Pursuit of Happyness - Movie Review
We discuss the Will Smith film, "The Pursuit of Happyness" and get into a heated debate over whether this is an inspirational story about an entrepreneurial dreamer, or a guy with misplaced priorities making stupid choices and putting his child at risk.
    This is a fun one.

  • Cars - Movie Review
We get our kicks on Route 66 doing an analysis of the Disney/Pixar film, Cars. It has a luddite-ish “buy local” message, which has a nostalgic element, but at a cost of a lower standard of living.
Still, there is enough story and character arc to make it a pleasant enough watch.

  • Blade Runner 2049 - Movie Review
Robert and I take a dive into the world of Blade Runner where warrants aren't necessary and either is a scrolling text that is large enough to read.
This was a followup to the cult-classic, sci-fi film noir, Blade Runner where replicants and humans have a rocky coexistence once free will is discovered by the replicant slaves.
This is a beautiful movie that has taken great care in the craft of filmmaking, has a deliberate pace that realizes the vision of the director. Unfortunately, they miss the off-world ship about having a coherent story. We get into it.

  • I Saw the Devil - Movie Review
In what may become a routine feature, we do a foreign film from South Korea that has a bit of a cult following in the US, I Saw the Devil. This one is timely as the Olympics are currently taking place there and has plenty on offer.
It's a story of revenge where the aggrieved party takes justice into their own hands, and fights fire with fire, becoming the monster he is hunting. Kyung-chul (Choi Min-sik) is a dangerous psychopath who kills for pleasure. He has committed infernal serial murders in diabolic ways that one cannot even imagine and his victims range from young women to even children. The police have chased him for a long time, but were unable to catch him. One day, Joo-yeon, daughter of a retired police chief becomes his prey and is found dead in a horrific state. Her fiance Soo-hyun (Lee Byung-hun), a top secret agent, decides to track down the murderer himself.

  • The Lion King - Movie Review
Can you feel the love tonight? Robert and I eviscerate Disney's The Lion King faster than goose-stepping hyenas turned on Scar.
We hope you enjoy this one where we take on monarchy, democracy, time preference, trespassing, self-defense, social ostracism, plot holes, and animation....and so close to Valentine's Day.
    Enjoy!

  • Groundhog Day - Movie Review
We go back to the Bill Murray well....again. It's Groundhog Day on the Actual Anarchy Podcast. A movie that despite being 25 years old now, holds up very well.
Bill Murray is at his wry, wisecracking best in this riotous romantic comedy about a weatherman caught in a personal time warp on the worst day of his life. Teamed with a relentlessly cheerful producer (Andie MacDowell) and a smart-aleck cameraman (Chris Elliott), TV weatherman Phil Connors is sent to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, to cover the annual Groundhog Day festivities. After a surprise blizzard traps him in small-town hell, things get even worse; Phil wakes the next morning to find it’s GROUNDHOG DAY all over again… and again… and again.

  • Ghost in the Shell - Movie Review
We invite a guest to discuss the Ghost in the Shell. We primarily focus on the newer ScarJo version, but also discuss the original anime.
We get into a lively conversation that runs a bit longer than we intend for the new format, but we think it is well worth it.
