  • Ipswich Town 0-4 Newcastle United

Alexander Isak's hat-trick inspired Newcastle United to a wonderful 4-0 win at Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon. The 25-year-old's treble - the first by a Magpies player since Ayoze Pérez struck three times against Southampton in April 2019 - helped move his side up to seventh in the Premier League table after a fine display at Portman Road, in which the hosts couldn't live with the free-flowing United.

Isak fired home inside the first minute to give the Magpies the lead, before Jacob Murphy's superb second gave Eddie Howe's men breathing space.

United were handed a third just before the break, with Isak rolling home again after profiting from some defensive hesitancy, before Murphy's neat assist allowed him to complete his hat-trick by stabbing home nine minutes after the restart to cap an excellent festive away day for the Magpies.

  • Newcastle United 3-1 Brentford

Newcastle United progressed into the Carabao Cup semi-finals following a 3-1 win against Brentford at St. James' Park on Wednesday night. Sandro Tonali's sweet strike, the Italian's first goal since August 2023, fired the hosts ahead in the opening stages of the quarter-final tie before the midfielder's equally impressive volley from Anthony Gordon's corner extended United's advantage before the half-time whistle. Fabian Schär's close-range finish added further gloss to the scoreline in the second-half before Yoane Wissa's stoppage-time effort proved a mere consolation as Eddie Howe's side secured a last-four spot in the competition for a second time in their last three seasons.

  • Newcastle United 4-0 Leicester City

The Magpies returned to winning ways with a convincing victory over Leicester City at St. James' Park. A double from Jacob Murphy and goals from Bruno Guimarães and Alexander Isak gave Eddie Howe's side the desired response to defeat at Brentford in their previous game - and set them up nicely for Wednesday night's Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with the Bees. And it was a Ruud awakening for Leicester, who had picked up four points from two games under new manager Ruud van Nistelrooy but had no answer to United's slick attacking play as the Magpies recorded their biggest win of the campaign so far.

  • Brentford 4-2 Newcastle United

Newcastle United suffered a 4-2 defeat at Brentford on Saturday afternoon. In the first half, the Bees twice led through Bryan Mbeumo and Yoan Wissa, but Alexander Isak and Harvey Barnes hauled United level each time they fell behind. But Nathan Collins' second half strike gave Thomas Frank's side the lead once more before Kevin Schade's late goal made sure of the three points for the hosts, as Eddie Howe's men slipped to defeat at the Gtech Community Stadium.

  • Newcastle United 3-3 Liverpool

Fabian Schar's 90th minute strike rescued a point for Newcastle United in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Premier League leaders Liverpool on Wednesday night. Alexander Isak's thunderous effort, the Swede's fifth league goal of the 2024/25 campaign, fired the Magpies into a deserved lead at St. James' Park before Curtis Jones' strike shortly after the restart found the hosts back on level terms. Anthony Gordon's composed finish, though, regained United's one-goal cushion after the hour mark but despite Mohamed Salah's brace firing the Reds ahead in the closing stages, Schär's effort in the final minutes salvaged a commendable point for Eddie Howe's side.

  • Crystal Palace 1-1 Newcastle United

Daniel Muñoz's stoppage time header denied Newcastle United all three points as they drew 1-1 at Crystal Palace on Saturday. Eddie Howe's side could have fallen behind in the first half at Selhurst Park when Muñoz missed a glorious opportunity to put the hosts - who had looked likelier to open the scoring - ahead. But the Eagles were punished soon after the restart when England defender Guehi turned Anthony Gordon's low cross into his own net after an excellent set piece routine from the Magpies. United weren't at their fluent best in South London, but looked to have the points in the bag until the 94th minute when Muñoz headed in a Guehi cross, with Nick Pope - who had had a superb game for the visitors - unable to keep it out in what was a bitterly disappointing finish for the Magpies.

  • Newcastle United 0-2 West Ham United

Joe, Jonny, Sam and Lee discuss the loss against the Hammers. The Magpies' three-game winning run in all competitions was brought to an abrupt end by West Ham United at St. James' Park. Eddie Howe's side had gone into the international break in fine form, but that momentum was halted with a goal in each half from the Hammers.

  • Nottingham Forest 1-3 Newcastle United

Second half strikes from Alexander Isak, Joelinton and Harvey Barnes capped a fine turnaround from Newcastle United as they came from behind to beat Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Murillo's header had given the hosts a half time lead at the City Ground, but Alexander Isak's opportunistic leveller - his fourth goal in four games - drew the Magpies level ten minutes after the restart. Joelinton's superb effort then put the visitors in front, before substitute Harvey Barnes made sure of the points inside the last ten minutes with a well-taken finish after a quick counter-attack. The result lifts Eddie Howe's side to eighth place in the Premier League table - just a point shy of the Champions League places.

  • Newcastle United 1-0 Arsenal

Newcastle United returned to winning ways in the Premier League after recording a 1-0 win against Arsenal on Saturday afternoon. Alexander Isak's header from Anthony Gordon's inch-perfect cross fired the hosts ahead, the Swede's third goal in as many competitive matches, in the early stages of the league encounter. Eddie Howe's side then held firm to record a well-deserved clean sheet, their second in as many competitive matches after Wednesday's 2-0 win against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, and their first Premier League victory since September.

Eddie Howe's Magpies are into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup for the third season in a row following a high-octane St. James' Park success against Chelsea. The Blues had narrowly beaten Newcastle at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League three days earlier but United gained some revenge by knocking them out of the cup thanks to Alexander Isak's third goal of the campaign and a Axel Disasi own goal.
