Our co-hosts, Amiee & Matthew, are back from their summer August break, and jump right into reviewing the historical “Battle for the Soul of the Nation” speech given by President Biden on September 1, 2022 directly in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A poignant and very bold speech that has now become controversial from the MAGA-Republican side due to Biden actually calling their bullshit out to the nation.

In this historical speech from Philadelphia, President Biden speaks about the "battle for the soul of the nation.” He called out former ‘President’ Donald Trump and his supporters, saying "MAGA Republicans do NOT respect The Constitution" (which is absolutely true by their very own choices and actions) and that they have extreme ideologies. The first of many Democrats hopefully speaking up and speaking out to not tolerate these outrageous and DELUSIONAL cult-like MAGA republicans and followers. Democracy is defended and should never be taken for granted, even in America. We must ALL constantly defend it otherwise it will fall when we are not paying attention. He also asked Americans to be sure to exercise their right to VOTE in the upcoming elections this November 2022.

Amiee & Matthew discuss their opinions and the facts of the speech, including the theatrical symbolism and obvious bold choices of the red stage lighting design (that any good stage director, musical theatre nerd or lighting designer would have understood), as well as introduce a new satire commercial with voice-over talents by Matthew Shirley.

Recorded on May 29, 2022 - It's Memorial Day weekend, and our Hosts, Amiee and Matthew, review their past month of social/current events and experiences. From attending the Women's March on May 14th 2022 at City Hall, Los Angeles, in support of Reproductive Rights for ALL,  the constant Gun Violence issues and mass shootings in America, the Lunar Eclipse, experiences on the Metro LA these days, to Amiee having a "psychic" moment caught on the recording while the news was on in the background.

 It's a 'Slippery Slope' from here with the current attack (and one may argue - the war on women and uterus' everywhere throughout history and societies since the dawn of Mankind) on Women's Rights and People with Uterus' Human Rights being taken away. Roe V. Wade is being dismantled in front of our eyes - a law, that has been in place for your right to PRIVACY for 50 years, is being taken away and that is just the beginning if Republicans have it their way. How can we solve these problems without ANYONE's human rights being infringed upon or is that impossible in today's culture and society? Answer: We need to pass the E.R.A. = Equal Rights Amendment. Did you know that Upland Game Animals (aka Pheasants) are protected MORE by Gun Regulations than HUMAN CHILDREN right now? And that is a FACT folks!  Enough with just the "Thoughts and Prayers." This has always been a PUBLIC Health crisis - when are WE, as a society and nation, going to actually DO SOMETHING about the ludicrous Gun Violence in America and the lack of protection? For over 20+ years this has been going on ever since Columbine and yet nothing has been done to really protect or make a difference for our children and our society. However, many other countries HAVE with actual solutions that have worked, such as: gun regulations, universal background checks, red flag systems, mandatory training and licensese, and making military/war-type firearms, such as the AR-15 and AK-47s, illegal, off the market and off their country's streets, which has resulted in positive outcomes evident by the continued data and statistics. It’s OSCAR week and our hosts review a few of the stellar films of 2020: the compelling and powerful "Kiss the Ground" Documentary Film, Pixar’s Academy Award Winning Best Animation Film: “SOUL,” and the hilarious political satire “Death to 2020" Film Reviews are in for this Entertainment Episode of The Late Night Lockdown! The first couple months of 2021 have already been crazy for most of us in society and our hosts, Matthew and Amiee, took a little hiatus for good reasons. Another good reminder for us ALL to STOP and make time for yourselves. It's hard out there and we ALL deserve time to ourselves, even if it's 10 minutes a day. (But more is better of course!) 

Amiee, being the documentarian that she is, recorded the past conversations during the hiatus time frame, for that exact reason in these "Flashback" Entertainment #NerdTalks. 

In this episode's conversation (originally recorded on February 8th, 2021) Matthew and Amiee of course discuss the appalling actions that took place on January 6th 2021 at the US Capitol, especially since the last episode before this was recorded one day before the Insurrection happened. What the Constitution Means to Me - a 2017 American play by Heidi Schreck. The play premiered on Broadway on March 31, 2019 at the Hayes Theater, NYC with Schreck herself in the leading role. Schreck addresses themes such as women's rights, immigration, domestic abuse, and the true history of the United States. Schreck varies the time period in which the play takes place, performing some scenes as her modern self and others as her fifteen-year-old self participating in National Constitutional Debate contests. What the Constitution Means to Me has received accolades such as a nomination for Best Play in the 73rd Tony Awards and a finalist spot for the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
