TRUMP vs. BIDEN election of November 2020!!! We've all seen the drama unfolding, and although it makes for great entertainment, this theatrical display of political wars is in fact distracting us from looking at the tragic demise of the world's most militarized nation. The USA has been an almost uncontested world power since the second world war, and is traditionally seen as a world leader in quality of life, technology, scientific advancements, and what we all know as "The American Dream". But some might think this dream is turning into an nightmare! With climate change, Black Lives Matter, LGBTQ right, COVID19, a growing gap between rich and poor, how does it really feel like to live in the USA in 2020? Today we're schmoozing with two American citizens to find out. Let's get schmoozing!

Cannabis became legal in Canada on October 17th 2018, for both medicinal and recreational purposes. Canada is the second country in the world, after Uruguay, to formally legalize the cultivation and consumption of the plant and its bi-products. The government of Canada has put a tremendous amount of resources in the regulation of both medicinal and recreational use of the plant. We have become a pioneering country in the transition to a safe and healthy cannabis consumption, and we are proud to set an example for the rest of the world. However, there are still many aspects of the cannabis industry that most people don’t know about and this is why at Schmooze and Booze, we decided to invite an industry expert to share her valuable knowledge and perspective on Cannabis legalization in Canada.

Many people feel like frauds - like they are not worthy of their success, no matter how many trophies, certificates, or accolades they've received. They diminish the significance of their achievements and attribute them to luck or other forces outside their control, rather than their own effort, dedication, and even intelligence. For people with impostor syndrome, their biggest fear is that people will soon discover that they are frauds and not as skilled, intelligent, or competent as the make themselves out to be. Research has linked the imposter syndrome to self-esteem issues, overachievement, and unhealthy levels of perfectionism.

There are certain things about our world we simply don't get. And most of the times, these are man-made situations that do not makes sense, are not fair and should really get us confused and frustrated to the point of wanting to do something about it! In this episode, we discuss different aspects of our world that we don't get and hope to see changing soon.
Quote of the week:
“If confusion is the first step to knowledge, I must be a genius.” - Larry Leissner
If you could have a conversation with your younger self to share some advice that you believe would have saved you a few heart aches or painful situations, what would it be? This week's episode is packed with positive messages not only from Salima and I but also from several shmoozers who shared their advice with us!
Within our conversation, we want to raise questions and issues about problems we have experienced ourselves or have seen close friends go through with regards to sexual attraction and life-partnership between men and women. The feminist movements have done an amazing job at advancing the socio economic situation of women in many societies around the world. However, we are noticing that through these changes of dynamic between men and women, we have created imperfect systems that create voids in our ability to work together, to build families together and to relate to one another professionally, emotionally and sexually. Let's quote the author David Deida who precisely points out some areas for improvement in our current societies:
In my workshops and consultations I hear independent and successful women complaining that many of today's men have become "wimps." too weak and ambiguous to really trust. Sensitive and affectionate men are complaining that many of today's women have become "ballbusters," too hardened and emotionally guarded to fully embrace. Is this the ultimate expression of human sexual wisdom and evolution, or is there another step to take?
Quote of the week:
“Life is not a competition between men and women. It is a collaboration. "
- David Alejandro Fernhead
Everybody needs friends! In this episode, Salima and Rita discuss the different types of friendships that we come across in our lifetime. It's an hour dedicated to the gift of friendship!
“Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.”- Marcel Proust
Salima and Rita both own small businesses. In this episode, we take you inside of Rita's business mind as Salima interviews her on different aspects related to starting and growing a business. A lot of the conversation also revolves around self-confidence and how to plan and execute a strategy for reaching your goals, so it's not only about business, but rather about building a leaders' mindset. You are the leader of your life!
