Hello everybody and welcome back to The Lawcast. This time our hosts return from hiatus with a new format as they begin a deep dive into WWE's Summer of Punk. This is the summer CM Punk changed the game with his infamous "Pipebomb" promo and ushered in a new era for WWE. Over a decade later, our hosts revisit and reconsider the storyline and its effects. This will be especially interesting in light of Punk's apparent departure from AEW and questions about his future in wrestling. On this night WWE presented one of their least memorable pay-per-views in history, Capitol Punishment in Washington DC. It's the night that R-Truth was inexplicable put into the main event to wrestle John Cena for the WWE Championship. We've also got Christian challenging Randy Orton for the WWE Championship and CM Punk in a heatless midcard match against Rey Mysterio. Not the most auspicious beginning for the Summer of Punk, but things would get better from here.
