Donald Trump started this trade war anticipating that manufacturing would return to the United States. When one examines the type of manufacturing that he’s trying to court - it’s just not going to happen. Companies like Apple have a well-embedded supply chain in China and India - and they just don’t have the workforce, the parts, or the capacity to move this to North America. John Turley-Ewart is a contributing columnist with the Globe and Mail - he joins Stephen LeDrew to discuss this for Three Minutes

Mark Carney has made it clear that the days of the woke Trudeau government are over - and we are heading for years of economic growth being the priority. With the Liberal Party moving to the right, will the left- leaning Liberals abandon the party and head to the NDP? This about- face for the Liberals may benefit the Conservatives but not in the way they thought. Andrew Perez is a Liberal Strategist he joins Stephen LeDrew for Three Minutes.

Pierre Poilievre had to kill Justin Trudeau to get ahead as the Leader of the Conservatives … and he succeeded. But did this taint his position as the Leader of the Opposition - especially considering that most Canadians don’t have an appetite for nasty politics? And now - Mark Carney’s policies are looking an awful lot like what the Poilievre Conservatives were pushing. What must the Conservatives do to pick up the momentum that they lost with the change in Liberal leadership? Dan McTeague is a former Liberal MP - he joins Stephen LeDrew for Three Minutes.

On the campaign trail, Mark Carney won the trust of Canadians with his experience of being a banker. Now that he’s in government he’s talking about how he’s cutting spending … while also trying to build infrastructure. How can you cut spending - and spend more money? Well - you get creative with the accounting and pretend that you have 2 budgets- an operating budget and a capital budget. But is this accounting just smoke and mirrors? Jay Goldberg is with the Consumer Choice Center- he joins Stephen LeDrew for Three Minutes to discuss this.

With the election firmly in our rearview mirror, Leger Polling asked Canadians how they feel about the results. Even Albertans are prepared to give Carney a chance. And It is heartening to hear that Canadians are satisfied with their vote, and they trust the results of the election - but it’s a mixed bag to say whether or not Canadians are happy. Andrew Enns is the Executive Vice President of Leger Polling - he joins Stephen LeDrew for Three Minutes.

In an about- face Mark Carney has decided it’s time to get tough on crime - It’s time to embrace natural resources … What is going on with this major reversal of Trudeau Dogma? Can the Conservatives re-invent themselves to win back the surge of support they saw mere months before the election? Andrew Perez is a Liberal strategist - and he joins Stephen LeDrew to offer some advice to the Conservative party for Three Minutes.

In the recent election, people were captivated by either Mark Carney or Pierre Poilievre - but one thing was for certain-everyone was sick of Justin Trudeau and his woke government. However, now that the election is over it seems that people have stopped holding the Federal Government to account on a daily basis. Some former Trudeau cabinet ministers are holding plum positions that could pose a real danger to middle class Canadians. Anita Anand is the minister who ordered tampon dispensers in every male washroom in the military. Steven Guilbeault, the minister who was trying to force Canadians to drive electric cars, is now in charge of censorship. Sean Fraser, the former minister of immigration, is the Attorney- General. We need to watch - and yes - we should give Carney the benefit of the doubt… but we need to stand on guard.

Leger Polling recently asked Canadians if they considered the United States an enemy - and a surprising number of people (30%) responded “yes”. The continued and erratic threats and tariffs coming from south of the border have been raining chaos on the Canadian economy. Meanwhile in Canada, we had a first ministers meeting that is easily the most successful in the past decade. We could be witnessing the erasure of inter-provincial trade barriers. Is this a glimmer of hope that the Canadian economy can get on track? Andrew Enns is the Executive Vice President at Leger - he joins Stephen LeDrew for Three Minutes.

Canadians rejoiced when they saw relief at the pumps with the axing of the Carbon Tax. But there is more at play than taxes. The gasoline market is run in the United States - and the drop in the Canadian dollar is negatively affecting the price of gas. Supply is lower - and demand is higher. Dan McTeague joins Stephen LeDrew to try to maybe share a glimmer of hope… for Three Minutes.

Now that we have decided that we were “afraid” of Pierre Poilievre, it’s time to take a sober look at the leader we elected. Mark Carney - who called the Freedom Convoy protestors ‘seditious’ - who has said he’s going to fast track infrastructure projects “as long as they adhere to the previous government’s idea of green standards”… or as stated in his book “believes in an open market… as long as it is approved by him”. Joanna Baron is the Executive Director of the Canadian Constitution Foundation - she joins Stephen LeDrew for Three Minutes.
