Republican presidential candidates’ efforts to move popularity away from former President Trump during the second GOP debate fell short, according to a new poll.
The Messenger/Harris poll found that more than a quarter of respondents said Wednesday night’s primary debate make them more likely to vote for Trump, who remains the GOP frontrunner despite mounting legal woes.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis came in second with 21 percent of respondents saying they were more likely to vote for him after the debate, closely followed by former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley, who brought in 20 percent, according to the survey.
Roughly 18 percent said they were more likely to support entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy post-debate. He was followed by former president Mike Pence, who earned 16 percent; former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie with 15 percent; South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott with 14 percent, and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum bringing in only 8 percent likely support, according to the survey.

U.S. President Joe Biden's chances of re-election are being jeopardized by voters' concerns over his age, the economy and crime, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, creating an opportunity for Republican challenger Donald Trump to return to the White House.
The opinion poll found Democrat Biden, 80, tied in a hypothetical November 2024 election against Trump, 77, the former president who is the front-runner for the Republican nomination, with both receiving 39% of the vote and one in five voters undecided.
Democrats held a strong advantage among voters most concerned about protecting abortion rights, while Republicans had an edge among those worried about crime, the poll found.
Trump remains politically viable despite a battery of federal and state criminal charges revolving around his attempts to overturn Biden's 2020 election win and his mishandling of classified documents since leaving office. He is expected to spend much of next year in courtrooms standing trial while also campaigning.

October 03, 2023 PROPAGANDA In Our Schools? Oklahoma Grants PragerU Access Across State | The Left Wing 21.6
Oklahoma announced Tuesday it would be allowing materials from the conservative education platform PragerU in its public schools, following the same move from Florida earlier this summer. Ryan Walters, the state superintendent of public instruction, said he is “thrilled” to be partnering with the platform founded by right-wing talk show host Dennis Prager and Allen Estrin back in 2009.
“This expansion of our available resources will help ensure high-quality materials rich in American history and values will be available to our teachers and students,” Walters said in a statement. “We will work together to find ways for PragerU to create content that will enrich the education of Oklahoma students,” he added.
PragerU has become popular among Republicans for its short videos on hot topic issues, with the platform saying it is “a free alternative to the dominant left-wing ideology in culture, media, and education.”
Some of the platform’s most popular five-minute videos include “Is Islam a Religion of Peace?” and “Make Men Masculine Again.”

October 02, 2023 Will It Work?? Biden Faces Impeachment Inquiry From House Republicans | The Left Wing 21.5
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said he is launching an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden, yielding to mounting pressure from former President Donald Trump and his allies in what’s shaping up as an election-year clash between Congress and the White House.
In a statement Tuesday, McCarthy said the House investigations into the Biden family this year have uncovered a “culture of corruption” that demands deeper review.
“These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction and corruption,” McCarthy said.
McCarthy said he will direct the chairmen of the House Judiciary, Oversight and Ways and Means committees to lead the impeachment inquiry. The panels have been working together for months on various probes related to the Biden family and have yet to directly connect the president to any of it.
The White House called the effort “extreme politics at its worst.”

October 01, 2023 UAW Strike Expands To 20 States - General Motors Refuses To Meet Union Demands | The Left Wing 21.4
The United Auto Workers union expanded its strike against major carmakers Friday, walking out of all 38 parts-distribution centers operated by General Motors and Jeep and Ram owner Stellantis in 20 states but sparing Ford from further shutdowns.
President Joe Biden said on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he will visit Michigan on Tuesday “to join the picket line and stand in solidarity with the men and women of UAW as they fight for a fair share of the value they helped create.”
Ford avoided additional strikes because the company has met some of the union’s demands during negotiations over the past week, UAW President Shawn Fain said during an online presentation to union members.

Comedian Russell Brand has been accused of rape and sexual assault by four women who detail incidents that took place over seven years, according to an investigation by the UK’s Sunday Times, the Times, and Channel 4’s Dispatches. Brand denied all allegations in a social media video he posted on Saturday, during which he claimed that these encounters were consensual.
Brand is the latest high-profile figure to face such allegations as more and more people have spoken out about sexual abuse following the rise of the Me Too movement, which shined a light on sexual misconduct by powerful individuals, including film producer Harvey Weinstein. Following the release of the investigation, additional people have come forward with undisclosed allegations about Brand, claims the Times has said they are working to verify.
In the original report, the three publications documented one allegation of rape and three allegations of sexual assault against Brand. These incidents allegedly took place between 2006 and 2013, and occurred while he was working for the BBC, on Channel 4, and in different films as an actor. The BBC and Channel 4 have since said they will be conducting internal investigations.

GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy vowed to cut 1 million civilian federal employees from the government if elected to the White House next year.
In interviews with Axios and Semafor, Ramaswamy said he wanted to make drastic cuts to the federal government. He listed the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Department of Education, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the IRS, the Commerce Department and the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Services as potential subjects for the cuts.
The tech entrepreneur told Axios he wants to cut the federal civil workforce, which comprises 2.2 million people, by 75 percent after four years. He added he wants to see a 50 percent reduction by the end of his first year.

Drew Barrymore is now joined by Bill Maher and "The Talk" in delaying their returns to television after criticism of their decisions to resume production while the Hollywood strikes are still going on.
Barrymore announced Sunday via her Instagram account that after receiving blowback from her decision to resume production, she's decided to press "pause."

September 27, 2023 KICKED out! Lauren Boebert Displays “Family Values” In Denver Theatre | The Left Wing 20.7
U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert was escorted out of a Sunday night performance of the “Beetlejuice” musical in downtown Denver, accused by venue officials of vaping, singing, recording and “causing a disturbance” during the performance.
In an incident report shared with The Denver Post on Tuesday afternoon, officials with Denver Arts & Venues wrote that two patrons were asked to leave the city-owned Buell Theatre during the performance of the touring Broadway show. They previously were issued a warning during the intermission regarding behavior that prompted three complaints from other theatergoers, the report says.
The report said after the two patrons were escorted out and reached the building’s vestibule, they resisted leaving and said “stuff like ‘do you know who I am,’ ‘I am on the board’ (and) ‘I will be contacting the mayor.’ ”

Joey Morrison is a social worker and community organizer who ran for Bozeman City Commission in 2021 and won over thirty percent of the vote. Joey has organized the Sunrise movement locally, regionally, and nationally, pushing for a livable future and good jobs for all.
He's now running to be the Mayor of Bozeman, Montana, looking to unseat an incumbent who has held office for over a decade.
Montana is in a three-way tie with Idaho and Hawaii for the least affordable home prices in the nation.
