🎙️ Episode 39 | How to Stop Being a Perfectionist: The Power of B-Minus Work

Welcome to Episode 39 of The Less Stress, More Magic Podcast ✨

I’m your host, Erin Wallen, and I’m so glad you’re here.

This podcast is for capable, caring women who are doing all the “right” things—yet still feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or stuck in stress. If you’ve ever tried to “think more positively” or reframe your mindset and wondered why it didn’t stick, this episode is for you.

    In This Episode

Perfectionism can look like a strength, especially when you’re used to achieving, doing things well, and holding yourself to high standards. But what if the pressure to get everything exactly right is actually keeping you from moving forward?

In this episode, I’m sharing the concept of B-minus work and how it has helped me loosen my grip on perfectionism. I’ll also share a personal story from my recent applied neurology certification exam, when I chose to take the exam without waiting until I felt perfectly prepared—and discovered how much freedom there can be in allowing a passing result to be enough.

    We’ll talk about:

    • Why perfectionism can become tied to our identity and sense of safety.
    • How the fear of judgment, criticism, or getting something wrong can keep us stuck.
    • What B-minus work means—and why it doesn’t mean lowering your standards in every area of life.
    • How nervous system regulation can help us respond differently to the pressure to be perfect.
    • My certification exam story and what it taught me about trusting myself, releasing unnecessary pressure, and moving forward.
    • Why the benefits of nervous system work can ripple into every area of your life.

    Why This Matters

When perfectionism is driven by fear, we can spend so much energy trying to prevent mistakes that we lose sight of what actually matters. Sometimes the pursuit of a perfect result costs us time, energy, creativity, and the freedom to enjoy our lives.

This episode is an invitation to get curious about where excellence truly matters—and where “good enough” might be more than enough. You don’t have to stop caring about your work or your goals. You can learn to move forward without making perfection the price of your worth.

Take a moment to reflect or journal:

    1. Where in my life am I asking for perfection when good enough would actually be enough?
    2. What am I afraid I might feel if I allow myself to do something imperfectly?
    3. What might become possible if I felt safe enough to move forward without getting everything exactly right?

    🎙️ Episode 38 | Your Nervous System Is a Wealth-Building Asset

Welcome to Episode 38 of The Less Stress, More Magic Podcast ✨

I’m your host, Erin Wallen, and I’m so glad you’re here.

What if one of your most valuable wealth-building assets isn’t your income, your business strategy, or how hard you’re willing to work?

What if it’s you — and the nervous system you’re creating it all through?

In this episode, we’re expanding the definition of wealth beyond money and exploring how your nervous system influences your ability to access clarity, creativity, discernment, connection, and aligned action — especially under stress.

I’m also introducing my REAL Wealth framework: Resources, Energy, Alignment + Legacy, a new way to think about creating success that supports not only what you want to achieve, but the person you are becoming and the life you actually want to experience.

    In This Episode

    We’ll talk about:

    • Why working harder and adding more pressure doesn’t always create better results
    • The Yerkes-Dodson performance curve and the relationship between stress and performance
    • How nervous system regulation can help you access the strategy, skills, and knowledge you already have
    • Why you are the golden goose — not just the producer of the golden eggs
    • The REAL Wealth framework: Resources, Energy, Alignment + Legacy
    • How to uncover the deeper “why” underneath your financial and business goals
    • The difference between the discomfort of growth and the discomfort of abandoning yourself
    • How to create success that positively ripples into your relationships, work, family, and community

    Why This Matters

Money matters. Success matters. Your goals and desires matter.

But real wealth isn’t only about what you accumulate.

It’s also about what you have access to, how you feel while you’re building, whether the path reflects your values, and what your success makes possible.

So I’ll leave you with the question at the heart of this episode:

Does the wealth I’m creating support the person creating it — and the life I’m creating it for?

🎙️ Episode 37 | The Stress Bucket: Why Everything Suddenly Feels Harder

Welcome to Episode 37 of The Less Stress, More Magic Podcast ✨

I’m your host, Erin Wallen, and I’m so glad you’re here.

This podcast is for capable, caring women who are doing all the “right” things—yet still find themselves feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, anxious, or stuck in stress.

Have you ever been doing really well—taking care of yourself, staying consistent, feeling productive and in a good rhythm—and then suddenly everything feels harder?

You’re more irritable. You’re overthinking. Your routines start slipping. You procrastinate, check out, or wonder why you can’t seem to get yourself “back on track.”

Before you decide you need more discipline, more control, or a better strategy, consider this:

Your stress bucket might simply be full.

    In This Episode

In this episode, we’re exploring the stress bucket—a simple way to understand stress, overwhelm, nervous system regulation, and your capacity to navigate everything life asks you to hold.

Every day, your nervous system is responding to stressors: work, parenting, relationships, finances, poor sleep, overstimulation, illness, uncertainty—and even positive changes.

When those stressors exceed your current capacity, your nervous system can shift into a stress response. For some women, that looks like anxiety, urgency, irritability, overthinking, perfectionism, or trying to control everything. For others, it looks like exhaustion, procrastination, numbing out, or wanting to give up completely.

Instead of treating these moments as evidence that you’ve failed, what if you learned to recognize them as a signal that your nervous system needs support?

    We’ll talk about:

    • What the stress bucket is and how everyday stressors accumulate
    • How to recognize when stress has exceeded your current capacity
    • Why even exciting, positive changes can add to your nervous system’s stress load
    • How overwhelm can show up as anxiety, urgency and overthinking—or exhaustion, procrastination and checking out
    • Why self-criticism adds even more stress to an already-full bucket
    • My 3 Ns + 3 Rs framework: Notice, Name, Normalize, Regulate, Reduce + Return

    Why This Matters

Nervous system regulation doesn’t mean creating a life where nothing stressful ever happens.

It’s about building the capacity to navigate more of your real life—your work, relationships, dreams, responsibilities and growth—without constantly tipping into overwhelm or shutting down.

And this is at the heart of the work I teach inside Power of Ease™.

Because creating more ease isn’t about making your life smaller or avoiding stress. It’s about building a nervous system that can support the life you actually want to live.

The more you learn to recognize when your capacity is being exceeded, respond with compassion, regulate your system, reduce unnecessary stressors and return toward center, the more resilience and capacity you can build over time.

So the next time everything suddenly feels harder, pause before deciding that you’ve failed.

You may not need a better plan. You may not need more discipline. You may simply need more support, more recovery, or permission to put something down. 🤍

    • What stressors are currently filling my stress bucket?

    • What are my earliest signs that my capacity is being exceeded—physically, mentally, emotionally, or behaviorally?

    • What could I pause, release, delegate, or make smaller right now to create more space in my system?

  • Episode 36 | What Do You Believe You Can’t Have?

    Send us Fan Mail

What do you want that a part of you believes you can’t have?

    More ease and more success.
A thriving business and time away from social media.
More energy, strength and vitality as you get older.
A life that feels spacious and expansive.

In Episode 36 of Less Stress, More Magic, released on my birthday, I’m inviting you into one of the questions I’ve been asking myself as I step into another year of life:

    What do I believe I can’t have?

Because sometimes the thing limiting what we create isn’t what’s actually possible—it’s a belief we’ve unconsciously accepted as true.

In this episode, I share some of the beliefs I’ve uncovered in my own life, including a quiet belief I once held that maybe I had already reached my “peak,” and how dramatically that has shifted as I’ve learned to believe that I can actually keep getting better with age.

    We’ll explore:

    • How subconscious beliefs influence what we notice, choose and create
    • Why high achievers often believe more success requires more effort
    • Byron Katie’s four powerful questions for challenging a belief
    • How to ask, “How could the opposite be more true?”
    • Why nervous system safety matters when creating a new belief
    • How scripting and mental rehearsal can help make a new reality feel more familiar
    • A simple scripting practice you can begin using right away

This isn’t about forcing yourself to “think positive” or pretending something feels true when it doesn’t.

It’s about becoming curious about the beliefs shaping your life—and creating enough safety to consider:

What if I don’t have to keep believing this?

    And even more importantly…

What might become possible if I didn’t?

🎙️ Episode 35 | The Life Audit: Are You Creating What You Actually Want?

Welcome to Episode 35 of the Less Stress, More Magic Podcast ✨

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do isn’t set another goal or push harder toward the next thing.

It’s pause long enough to ask: Am I actually creating the life I want?

With my birthday approaching, I’ve been thinking about this season as my own personal New Year—a chance to zoom out, reflect on what’s working, notice what might need a little more love, and intentionally choose where I want my energy to go next.

In this short, practical episode, I’m walking you through two simple exercises you can actually do alongside me to audit your life, reconnect with what matters most, and make sure the way you’re pursuing your goals matches how you ultimately want to feel.

    In This Episode

    We’ll explore:

    • A simple Life Wheel exercise to assess eight areas of your life
    • How to identify the areas that may need more attention and intention
    • Why the thing you’re chasing may not be what you actually want
    • How to uncover the feeling or experience underneath your goals
    • Why the energy you use to create a result matters
    • A simple alignment exercise to look at your goals, actions, and the energy behind them
    • How to realign without judgment when you notice you’ve gotten off track

    Why This Matters

We can spend so much time working toward the next goal—more money, more success, the vacation, the accomplishment—without realizing that what we really want is the feeling we believe it will give us.

Connection. Freedom. Ease. Joy. Security. Presence.

And sometimes, those things are available to us long before we reach the goal.

This episode is an invitation to pause, get honest, and ask yourself:

Am I keeping the most important thing the most important thing?

Grab a piece of paper and do this one with me. 🤍

🎙️ Episode 34 | How to Let Go of Control: Nervous System Regulation, Surrender & Self-Trust

Welcome to Episode 34 of the Less Stress, More Magic Podcast ✨

What if letting go of control doesn’t mean giving up your power—but learning to trust yourself enough to know when to act, when to say no, and when to surrender?

In this episode, we’re exploring the relationship between nervous system regulation, surrender, discernment, abundance, and self-trust—and why it can be so difficult to hear your intuition when your nervous system is operating from stress, urgency, or survival mode.

I’m also sharing some of the conversation that came out of our first Abundance Book Club, inspired by The Surrender Experiment by Michael A. Singer, and inviting you into our next gathering.

    In This Episode

    We’ll talk about:

    • Why surrender doesn’t mean simply saying yes to everything
    • The connection between nervous system regulation and discernment
    • Why your intuition can be harder to hear when you’re stressed or dysregulated
    • How our brains naturally look for danger, lack, and “not enough”
    • Choosing to see life through a lens of abundance instead of scarcity
    • How surrender can help us loosen our grip on controlling the outcome
    • Why self-trust is essential for knowing when something is a true yes—or a true no
    • A simple five-senses grounding practice to help you move out of your busy mind and back into the present moment

    Why This Matters

When your nervous system is activated, everything can feel louder and more urgent. It can be difficult to tell the difference between fear, intuition, protection, and genuine inner knowing.

But as we learn to create more safety within ourselves, we create space to slow down, listen, and discern what is actually being asked of us.

Sometimes the next step is action.

    Sometimes it’s a boundary.

    And sometimes it’s surrender.

The goal isn’t to stop caring about what happens. It’s to build enough self-trust and nervous system capacity that you no longer have to grip so tightly to how it happens.

    • Where in my life am I gripping tightly to a specific outcome?
    • What would surrender look like here—and what would it not look like?
    • When I quiet the urgency and listen inward, what feels like a true yes or a true no?

You don’t have to force your way through life.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is create enough safety within yourself to hear what’s been quietly guiding you all along. 🤍

🎙️ Episode 33 | Butterfly Soup: When You’re Between Who You Were and Who You’re Becoming

Welcome to Episode 33 of The Less Stress, More Magic Podcast ✨

I’m your host, Erin Wallen, and I’m so glad you’re here.

Have you ever felt like you’re somewhere between the person you’ve been and the person you’re becoming?

Maybe nothing is necessarily wrong. In fact, you may have created a life, career, or business you once dreamed about. And yet… something new is calling you forward.

In this episode, I’m sharing vulnerably from a season where I feel very much in what I’m calling “butterfly soup”—that messy, uncertain space of transformation where the old is dissolving, but the new hasn’t fully taken shape yet.

    In This Episode

    We’ll talk about:

    • 🦋 The “butterfly soup” analogy and what it can teach us about transformation
    • ✨ Why growth can feel uncomfortable even when you’re moving toward something you deeply desire
    • 🧠 Why your nervous system naturally prefers what’s familiar—and how to support yourself when you’re stepping into the unknown
    • 🤍 What I’m personally being called toward in this next season of my life and business
    • 🌿 Why you don’t need to know how your next chapter will unfold
    • ⚡ How urgency can be a sign that stress is driving your decisions
    • 🌎 What happens when you create enough internal safety to listen for your true desires and take the next aligned step

    Why This Matters

Sometimes growth isn’t about leaving behind something bad.

Sometimes it’s about being willing to loosen your grip on something good because you can feel yourself being called toward something new.

And that can bring up a lot in the nervous system.

You don’t need to force clarity. You don’t need to figure out the entire path. And you don’t need to rush your transformation.

You can support your nervous system, stay curious about what’s emerging, and trust yourself to take the next step as it becomes clear.

    Maybe you’re not stuck.

Maybe you’re just in the butterfly soup. 🦋✨

    Reflection / Journal Prompts

    Take a moment to reflect:

    • Where in my life might I be between who I was and who I’m becoming?

🎙️ Episode 32 | Coaching Series: When Your Worth Is Tied to the Outcome

Welcome to Episode 32 of the Less Stress, More Magic podcast. ✨

I'm your host, Erin Wallen, and today I'm sharing the second—and final—episode in this special coaching series, where you get a behind-the-scenes look at a real coaching conversation.

In this episode, I coach Bridget, a breathwork facilitator and retreat host who finds herself navigating the pressure of filling an upcoming retreat. While it begins as a conversation about business, it quickly uncovers something much deeper: how easily we can tie our worth to outcomes we can't control.

Whether you're launching a business, planning an event, working toward a personal goal, or simply hoping something works out, this episode will help you release the pressure of "getting it right" and reconnect with what truly matters.

    In This Episode

    We'll explore:

✨ Why we often tie our self-worth to external results
✨ The hidden fear beneath perfectionism and high achievement
✨ How to shift from being results-driven to mission-driven
✨ Why uncertainty doesn't mean you're doing something wrong
✨ A simple mindset shift that can create more peace while pursuing your goals
✨ How curiosity, trust, and purpose help you create with more ease

    Why This Matters

When our identity becomes attached to outcomes, every setback can feel personal. But true freedom comes when we remember that our purpose is bigger than any single result.

This conversation is a reminder that you don't have to earn your worth through achievement. You can stay rooted in your mission, trust the unfolding process, and believe that whatever the outcome... it can still be beautiful.

Welcome to Episode 31 of The Less Stress, More Magic Podcast. ✨

Today, I'm inviting you behind the scenes of a real coaching session with my friend, Sylwia.

Like so many women, Sylwia is carrying a lot. Between running businesses, raising three children, supporting aging parents through serious health challenges, and trying to be everything for everyone, her stress has reached a level she knows isn't sustainable.

In this honest and vulnerable conversation, we explore a powerful shift that has the potential to change everything:

You can't always change your stressors—but you can change your relationship with stress.

Together, we unpack why so many of us only reach for coping tools when we're already overwhelmed, how to build a daily nervous system practice that creates lasting resilience, and why self-compassion may be one of the most overlooked tools for reducing stress.

    In This Episode, We Explore:

✨ The difference between stress and stressors
✨ Why carrying everyone else's emotions leaves you exhausted
✨ How to stop reacting to stress and start building resilience proactively
✨ A simple three-step self-compassion practice you can begin today
✨ Why tiny daily actions create lasting nervous system change
✨ How increasing your capacity changes the way you experience life's challenges

If you've ever felt like your mind won't slow down, you're carrying everyone else's burdens, or life simply feels like too much right now, I hope this conversation reminds you that you're not alone—and that there is another way.

🎙️ Episode 30: The Foundations of Ease (Part 3): Understanding Your Unique Nervous System

Welcome to Episode 30 of the Less Stress, More Magic Podcast—and the final episode in my Foundations of Ease series.

We hear a lot about the importance of regulating your nervous system. But there’s another piece of the conversation that I believe is just as important:

    Understanding YOUR nervous system.

Your nervous system is as unique as your fingerprint. It has been shaped by your experiences, patterns, relationships, and what has become familiar to you over time.

And one of the most important things to understand is that your nervous system isn’t simply asking, “Am I safe?”

It’s asking, “Does this feel safe?”

That distinction matters because familiarity can feel safer to your nervous system—even when what’s familiar is stress, overworking, urgency, perfectionism, or overwhelm.

In this episode, we explore how to begin recognizing your own nervous system patterns, why positive change and expansion can sometimes create unexpected dysregulation, and how slowly building your capacity for something new can help you experience more ease.

    In this episode, we’ll explore:

✨ Why your nervous system is as unique as your fingerprint
✨ The #1 question your nervous system is constantly asking
✨ Why familiar stress can feel “safer” than unfamiliar ease
✨ How your nervous system develops a familiar set point
✨ Why getting what you want can sometimes create MORE dysregulation
✨ The difference between Team Hyper, Team Hypo, and the “Magic Zone”
✨ How to identify the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors connected to each nervous system state
✨ Why awareness alone can begin creating meaningful change
✨ How small, consistent practices help expand your capacity for more ease, opportunity, and growth

You don’t need to understand everything about your nervous system overnight.

    Start small.

    Notice one thought.
    One feeling.
    One action.

Because awareness changes everything—and the more you understand your unique nervous system, the more intentionally you can begin working with it instead of against it.
