Are you easily offended? When we're offended, somewhere down deep our belief system has been challenged.

Asking questions about what is 'beneath' the offense is a great way to begin to excavate where offense originated and resides.

You can use the questions Robin presents to journal and explore the emotion of 'offended'.

    About Sandra:

Give Sandra Halling the business equivalent of a 5,000 piece jigsaw puzzle and she can make it look like the picture on the box. As founder of The Data Mavens, she’s dedicated to helping entrepreneurs and executives design their workflow and systems to feel organized, have peace of mind and prioritize what matters to them. Sandra is an expert on platforms like Deltek Vision, Notion, and ClickUp but her real priority is helping you develop better work habits by achieving Aligned Productivity—that is to say, aligning your work with your values.

    Show Notes:

Our goals represent our values.  When what you do during the day doesn't line up with your goals, the solution is to align your work with your values.

Systems may work but aren't the solution to productivity.

Systems don't adjust for the seasons of your life or for the actual day-to-day living and unexpected situations that happen.

The idea of 'consistent output all the time'  doesn’t leave space for humanity.

A question to ask is how do we FEEL about what we’re focused on?

We need to give ourselves permission and space to figure out what we want to focus on.

It usually takes someone on the outside to help us to see what we value but we can also look at our calendar and our budget to help us see what we are valuing.

When you deviate from your plan to be productive, it's good to notice how what you chose to do supported you and your goals and how it supported your boundaries.

We thrive in community. Having others to support us in our goals is critical to our success.

We all have patterns of behavior that are passed down by our families (parents).  Those patterns supported us, but may be outdated now.

Our parents did their best and wanted to keep us safe, but not all patterns support us in living with peace and joy today.

We have a choice. We can choose to continue in our patterns (martyrdom, victim, overdoer, people pleaser, etc) or, when they reveal themselves, we can choose to behave or believe something else.

We create an identity for ourselves when we are about 2 years old. We think of it as The Ego.

Our Ego helps to keep us safe but it is not actually us.

When we recognize that our ego is NOT us, if we are willing to pay attention and become aware, the ego can become the servant, not the master (your True Self can be the Master).

Your True Self is already there. It gives you access to peace, clarity, freedom, happiness, and love.

As our True Self, we can be in our life creating from our peace and clarity.

We no longer have to find our worthiness through our accomplishments (per The Ego).

The work is waking up to our true self. It's a gradual process of learning to see through the illusion of self we’ve created. Dr. Fred calls these moments 'glimpses'.

To begin, slow down. Notice your feelings. Get more clarity about the feelings you have.

Your True Self isn’t mystical. It’s who you are.

    • 40 Emotions that May Be Secretly Triggering You

There are at least 40 emotions that can cause us to get derailed as we go through our day. Many of these emotions are triggered by communication, including emails, app notifications, and text messages.

These triggers invite us to pay attention to what's below the surface. If we feel anger, what is beneath the anger? Is it indignation or injustice, or disrespect?

It's good for us to begin to notice what's bothering us or triggering us. Once we notice something, we can choose what we want to do (or not do) to resolve the feelings and remove the trigger.
