We begin this journey of punching the tickets to life with the free gift of salvation. But even with the free gift, one must believe, put faith in action, and then build upon that faith. We now examine adding to our faith the endurance virtue.
The next ticket is the “energize” ticket, which stands for self-control. We are to be lords over ourselves. We are over not under all our emotions, thoughts, desires, and so on.
God is the great educator and in a very real sense, salvation and spiritual growth is a matter of spiritual education. A life built on the true knowledge of God and God’s word is a life built right and one that will stand through the storms.
The divine power of God shared by and active through Jesus has bestowed on us everything we need for life and godliness. Peter says we can escape the corruption we face in the world by learning to walk in this new life.
Peter reveals the tickets to the life you are called to live. A ticket is a special pass that gives the holder certain special rights and privileges to enter a specific place. The ticket is evidence that the holder has paid a specified cost for using the ticket and is allowed to enter.
