Why do people reject Jesus? Jesus tells Nicodemus in John 3:19, “The light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.” People reject the light of salvation because they love the darkness of sin. It’s like bringing a pig and a lamb into your house, bathing them, and letting them loose. The pig will head straight for the mud, while the lamb will lie on the grass. Their different natures drive their actions. Similarly, unbelievers love the darkness of sin. Jesus says in verse 20, “For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed.” Do you love the light or the darkness?
