  • What are Dapps? | Crypto Confidence Ep 5

    What are dapps?

You’re probably familiar with applications (apps), the programs you use to stay organized, order food, play games, book a ride, do your work, avoid doing your work, and quite literally a million other things.

Now, there are also crypto apps, known as decentralized apps, or “dapps” for short.

A dapp is simply an app that runs on a blockchain.

On the surface, many dapps will look and feel just like the apps you already use every day.

But under the hood, you’ll find the innovations and decentralized benefits of blockchain technology.

Dapps are where you go to give purpose and utility to your crypto. You can invest, trade, buy, play, and explore Web3.

What can I do with dapps?

A lot, and more every day!

Once you’ve got a self-custody wallet, you can start to explore all the different ways to engage with dapps:

Swap: Exchange your tokens for other cryptocurrencies or fiat.

Lend/Borrow: Take out crypto loans or lend your crypto as a way to earn.

Pay: Facilitate remittance, business, and peer-to-peer payments quickly and across borders.

Earn: Invest and build savings. Stake your crypto or join a communal crypto pool to get rewards on your assets.

Shop: Use your crypto to buy gift cards, flights, products, and services.

Manage: Stay on top of your portfolio of crypto, NFTs, and other digital assets, analyze your crypto transactions for taxes and accounting, and process stablecoin payments for you or your business.

Impact: Use crypto to create a movement like the SEED coin I support communities in need and raise consciousness, learning journeys, or even funds for causes that matter.

Interact: Create a unique username on Celo and join social or professional networks to find and support talent.

Collect: Browse NFT marketplaces to buy, sell, view, and show off your NFT collections. You can also create and distribute your own NFTs.

Play: Discover a wide range of games, including play-to-earn and

    NFT-based games.

    How dapps differ from apps

Like many things on the blockchain, dapps are decentralized, with all the benefits decentralization brings.

Most notably, they can give users more control over their data–how much they share, how they share it, and how it gets used by the dapp.

Let’s compare this to the traditional app experience.

While your rideshare or food delivery app may be running on your personal device, everything on the backend, where the real work happens, is owned and controlled by the company that makes the app.

Using their app means entrusting your private data, like identity, location, and banking information, to a company that may be lax or opaque about their security measures or gasp not have your best interests at heart.

They collect your data because their business model depends on it. The more data they can harvest, the more detailed info they have to sell to advertisers and make fortunes.

Blockchain dapps, on the other hand, work differently.

They charge small transaction fees in exchange for their service.

They don’t require any personal data and allow you to keep your identity anonymous.

    Doesn’t that sound nice?

This simplicity is partly because the controlling entity behind the dapp is not a company but a smart contract, the behind-the-scenes code that runs them. Smart contracts are so crucial to dapps and Web3 that we gave them their own explainer.

    The benefits of dapps

On top of everything that dapps do, here’s what makes them so great:

Communal: The code of many dapps is open-source and visible to all. So if a developer finds a way to improve a dapp, they are free to make those improvements. This open-source ecosystem fosters a sense of communication and collaboration that benefits everyone.

Anonymous: Many dapps don’t need your personal information to work, just need your wallet address. Your banking info, identity, location, and other personal data stay safe.

Secure: The data on blockchains are spread among many nodes rather than just a few servers, so it’s more resilient to hacks.

Always Open: There is no off-the-clock when code runs dapps instead of people. Therefore, your crypto and places where you can use it are always available to you.

    The challenges facing dapps

There is always an awkward adolescent phase with emerging technologies, especially ones as complicated as blockchain. The user experience, particularly the onboarding flow, needs some smoothing out.

Developers and designers are still figuring out how to eliminate hoops, or at least make them easier to jump through–things like setting up and securing a wallet, buying or swapping the right cryptocurrency from an exchange, etc.

Additionally, dapps ask more of their users. In exchange for higher security, users are responsible for keeping their passwords, seed phrases, and other personal data safe.

If you get locked out of your account, or if your account gets compromised, there’s not much you can do since there’s no central authority that can help you regain access.

So users need to do some research to ensure the wallets, blockchains, and dapps they interact with are safe and then practice ongoing diligence to ensure they’re using them correctly and responsibly.

    The future of dapps

The dapp ecosystem is increasing rapidly.

In 2020, the total dapp transaction volume passed $271B.

In 2021, the number of unique daily active wallets connected to dapps increased 7x.

It’s easy to see why many people believe dapps will completely replace traditional apps in the coming years.

The list of things you can do with dapps grows every day, and the possibilities are exciting.

Developers and designers are creating new and fascinating dapps, reinventing existing industries, unlocking novel ones, and steadily chipping away at the early challenges with dapps.

But dapps are already a great way to discover opportunities on the blockchain.

Now that you know more about how they work, you’re ready to see what dapps can do for you.

  • What type of crypto wallet do I need? | Crypto Confidence Ep 4

What type of crypto wallet do I need?

This is one of the first decisions for anyone looking to get into crypto, and it’s a big one.

There are many types of wallets, but don’t worry, most work in a similar way: wallets are applications that allow you to access your crypto on a blockchain.

There are both software wallets and hardware wallets.

Hardware wallets are generally recommended for safekeeping larger amounts, so for the sake of this introductory guide we’ll focus on software wallets.

Like most things in crypto, software wallets come in a few flavors.

There are web-based wallets added to your web browser and mobile wallets downloaded onto your phone or tablet.

Most software wallets operate along the same lines regardless of where they live.

Every wallet has an account address (also known as a wallet address or a public key) that exists on the blockchain.

This is the string of numbers and letters you can share with others so they can send you crypto from their wallets.

Think of it as your account on the blockchain.

While most software wallets are similar, it’s important to note that some wallets may only hold specific cryptocurrencies and work on certain blockchains.

If you’re interested in a particular chain or currency, look up which wallets are compatible.

Most wallets you encounter will include security measures to keep your assets safe, such as a Recovery Phrase, password, or secret key (often one wallet will use multiple security options).

I highly recommend familiarizing yourself with these safety features before setting up your wallet.

Selecting a crypto wallet is a balancing act of convenience versus security.

Some wallets entrust security to a third party but offer some convenient features.

Others give total control to the owner, but the owner must keep their Recovery Phrase safe or risk losing access to their wallet.

These categories are respectively known as custodial and self-custody:

Self-Custody (Non-Custodial): The wallet is entirely in your control, and you can do more with it, like connect to dapps.

While you get absolute control over your wallet, as you do with a physical wallet where you keep cash and cards, if you lose your Recovery Phrase, there is no other way back in––your crypto is locked away forever. Self-custody wallets are the most secure, but they put responsibility entirely on the owner to keep them safe.

Custodial: More like a traditional bank, a third party holds your wallet and manages its security.

Since you’re ultimately entrusting your wallet’s access and security to a company, there are ways to get back in if you lose your password.

Traditionally, people consider custodial wallets easier and more convenient to use.

But recent advances in self-custodial wallets have prioritized usability and convenience. That’s why today, wallets like Valora can offer the ease and convenience of custodial wallets while continuing to offer the control and security of self-custodial ones.

So here’s what to ask yourself when choosing a wallet:

Is this wallet compatible with the blockchain and/or cryptocurrency I’m interested in?

Where will I use this wallet? On my phone or tablet, my web browser, desktop?

Do I want a custodial or self-custodial wallet?

How much control and responsibility do I want to have over my assets?

However you answer these questions, there’s a wallet out there that’s best for you.

  • How do I purchase crypto? | Crypto Confidence Ep 3

    How do I get crypto?

    Good question!

You can either earn crypto or buy crypto, but for the sake of simplicity and because it’s the option most people will choose, we’ll focus on buying it.

You can buy cryptocurrencies from crypto exchanges and other providers such as Kraken, and Moonpay.

Like traditional currency exchanges that convert one fiat currency into another, a crypto exchange will take your fiat currency––your dollars––and convert it into a cryptocurrency of your choosing.

Centralized exchanges will store your crypto for you (the “custodial” option) or you can keep your crypto in your own digital wallet, like phantom, which gives you more control over your assets (the “self-custodial” option).

Just like how your physical wallet holds your cash and cards, your crypto wallet holds your cryptocurrencies and digital assets (like the SEED COIN).

But crypto wallets do more than just hold your cryptocurrency, they also help you put it to use by connecting you to opportunities in Web3.

  • What is Crypto & Web 3? | Crypto Confidence Ep 1

What is web 3.0 & crypto?

Cryptocurrencies are digital currencies where the “crypto” in the name comes from the fact that these currencies are secured by cryptography. They exist on a public ledger, which is known as a blockchain.

These two characteristics make them extremely difficult to counterfeit.

There are many cryptocurrencies, and their values are changing all the time. The two best-known cryptos are Bitcoin and Ether.

Like traditional (or fiat) currency, cryptocurrencies can be used to buy, send, exchange, invest, trade, hold, lend, and borrow.

But because they’re decentralized and digital, they can do much more than traditional currencies, unlocking tremendous opportunities that simply weren’t possible before.

One of the most important functions of cryptocurrencies is fueling blockchains.

A blockchain is a connected network of nodes run by computers, and in exchange for running those nodes, those computers (or, more specifically, the people who own them) get rewarded with cryptocurrency.

Cryptocurrencies are decentralized, meaning they’re not controlled by any single government or central authority, and they operate outside the traditional financial system.

This means nobody can freeze or take away your assets, making cryptocurrencies a good option for people to store value.

Crypto assets can also be used with decentralized apps (known as dapps) built on blockchains.

There are already plenty of dapps out there unlocking new tools and revolutionizing existing ones.

Think of emerging spaces like decentralized finance (DeFi) and digital collectibles (NFTs). Exciting topics for another day.

For now, just know that cryptocurrencies are the digital currencies you use to transact on blockchains.

    Next Lesson: What are blockchains?

  • How Your Consciousness Shapes Your Financial Reality

Every night, I surround myself with like-minded, passionate entrepreneurs and change-makes in telegram and we discuss the landscape of the economy and the "Fourth-Coming."

We are on the brink of the largest economic collapse in history.

Money aligns with universal laws.   What goes down, must come up, and I couldn't be more excited about our future economy.

The visions I've personally been given, the future I'm preparing and creating for - is one you and I will celebrate in the coming months.

Now, is the time we start rethinking about the value of MONEY.

    Here's some context:

Money is the “body” of value.

It is the physical representation of value that rises and falls in ourselves, within us.

Not within “things” outside of us, but within us.

"Have you ever questioned the true nature of money? Is it just legal tender, a means of exchange? Or is there something deeper at play?

Money may appear to be a physical representation of value, but in reality, it is we, the observers, who give value to material things. The value of a car, for example, is meaningless without us to assign it worth.

Money is merely the external manifestation of our internal values.

It is a reflection of the value within us.

This is why the value of assets like a house or shares can fluctuate so dramatically.

When fear enters the market, it can cause a decrease in internal values and thus, a decrease in the value of money.

It's important to remember that money is not real, it is just a physical representation of our own values.

  • Luminous Skin is Just One Fatty Acid Away

Hey lovely, does your interest peak when solutions are offered when it comes to keeping your skin looking youthful?

Do you struggle with brain fog or low energy levels?

In this episode, we will be discussing the incredible benefits of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) on maintaining healthy, youthful-looking skin.

DHA is a type of omega-3 fatty acid that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, improve skin moisture retention, and promote skin repair. These properties make it an effective tool in preventing wrinkles and other signs of aging.

We will explore the science behind DHA's actions on the skin, as well as how it can be incorporated into a skincare routine. We will also discuss the potential for DHA to improve brain health and energy levels, making it a versatile nutrient for overall health and wellness.

Tune in to learn more about the powerful effects of DHA on wrinkles prevention and how you can incorporate it into your beauty routine.

The Powerful Effects of DHA on Wrinkles Prevention

DHA is a truly amazing micronutrient!

Docosahexaenoic acid (better known as DHA) is one of the Omega-3 fatty acids (along with eicosapentaenoic acid, or EPA). As you no doubt know, Omega-3s are found in a wide range of food sources, including:

    • Flax seeds
    • Algae
    • Cold-water fish, including salmon, tuna, mackerel, herring, and cod liver
    • DHA is particularly important for your brain. It accounts for up to 97% of the fatty acids in the human brain, and up to 25% of the total fat content in your brain. It’s critical for memory, recall, cognitive function, and can even prevent Alzheimer’s.

DHA also plays a role in everything from pregnancy to eye health, from cognitive development to heart disease, even depression and the treatment of arthritis.

But today, we want to highlight a truly important but lesser-known function of DHA: maintaining skin health.

How DHA Prevents Wrinkles and Protects Your Skin

You might have seen images or read articles about how fish skin is sometimes used on human skin for grafts.

This is done to not only speed up healing, but to provide an infusion of skin-critical nutrients—including DHA.

DHA is has been the subject of a number of studies, which examined how this amazing Omega-3 fatty acid could help to protect the skin against damage such as UV radiation, environmental pollutants, etc. - and accelerate repair.

Back in 2013, a team of researchers examined the effects of both DHA and EPA on the skin, examining inflammation, fatty acid composition in the skin cell membranes, and the function of the lipid rafts that affect skin composition.

As the study discovered, regular intake of DHA (in this case, in supplement form) led to reduced inflammation and better skin cell composition.

In 2018, another study found that DHA can not only decrease inflammation, but also accelerate skin healing (from wounds and environmental damage).

The study actually recommended using DHA-rich fish oil for both dermatological and cosmetic treatments, specifically to improve skin health.

But it was a 2020 study that really provided the most fascinating insight into DHA and its ability to improve your skin health.

The study involved caviar (sturgeon eggs), which are incredibly rich in DHA, which proved to have a preventive role in UV-induced skin aging. Specifically, the DHA enhanced adipocyte activity, increased adiponectin production, and in so doing, prevented premature skin aging (including wrinkles and skin lines) caused by UVB radiation in sunlight.

To understand how DHA helps, we need to take a closer look at how wrinkles form…

Wrinkles are the creases, folds, or ridges in your skin that appear as you age.

They’re the result of tension in the muscles of your eyes and mouth.

When you’re young, your skin is able to repair any microscopic damage that occurs as a result of this tension.

However, as you age, your skin grows thinner, repairs are affected more slowly, and the elasticity of your skin decreases.

Eventually, the wrinkles deepen beyond your body’s ability to repair.

One of the main reasons your body can’t repair itself effectively is due to the decrease in collagen and elastin production.

Collagen and elastin are the two proteins that keep your skin fresh, tight, and elastic.

As your aging naturally decreases their production, there aren’t enough of these proteins to effect repairs.

UV-induced damage is another major contributor to wrinkles.

The radiation in sunlight accelerates the breakdown of collagen and elastin, triggering inflammation in the “damaged” areas, which in turn makes it harder for your body to make repairs.

This vicious combination of more sun damage and less protein is what leads to wrinkle formation.

And that’s where DHA comes in! By reducing UV-induced skin damage, DHA gives your skin a fighting chance at making repairs.

DHA counteracts the inflammation and acts as a moisture barrier to prevent skin dryness (which also decreases collagen and elastin production).

It serves as an external protector that, paired with a healthy diet rich in the nutrients required to produce collagen and elastin, increases the longevity of your skin and stave off wrinkles.

DHA, via fish oil, is a truly marvelous supplement to add to your daily life.

Taking it orally can deliver an infusion of the fatty acids that contribute to brain health, regulate mood, and decrease internal inflammation.

Evoq makes sure to curate clean and cold pressed lipids like DHA —to help to fight wrinkles and stave off UV-induced skin damage.

With the anti-inflammatory, skin-protecting, oil-infusing benefits of DHA, you can give your skin more years of smooth, sleek beauty.

It’s such a simple fatty acid, but it will improve your health on so many levels!

  • ADHD & Highly Sensitive Through a New Energetic Lens

I'm beyond excited to welcome you into this very sensitive topic today … and it's going to be intense - no pun intended.

So listen up my friends, I've got a few questions to warm up to today's episode

More times than not, do you easily overwhelmed by strong sensory inputs like smells, the way fabrics feel on your body and sounds you easily pick up?

Do you seem to be aware of subtleties in your environment that others don't?

Do other people’s moods affect you - to the tune of “little do they know” you can read their energy like an open book?

Lastly, are you - or someone you know diagnosed with  ADHD, autism or other spectrums of a neurodiverse mind?

If you said yes to any of these - you may be a highly sensitive person.  But there’s more to this story.

After I connected the dots of my late adult ADHD tendencies, there's a common highly sensitive energetic nuances that thread through so many high powered and successful  individuals that have ADHD - which  can be super power, but also your Kryptonite.

So what is a highly sensitive person (HSP)?

The term is coined by the clinical psychologist Elaine Aron in 1991 to describe a personality trait that is present in 30% of the population, approximately 80 million women and men across the United States.

An HSP refers to those with a sensitive central nervous system and   increased awareness of physical, emotional, and social stimuli in their environment.

But today is Beyond just HSP’S.

Research is finally taking notice to the energetic body, and its complexities with a wide variety of professionals like our guest Judy Lipson and even the start of my own research through the lens of my quantum biofeedback, functional medicine  and hypnotherapy background …..

and it all comes back to your energy.

All of us have had the experience of being affected by someone else’s emotions.

It can be uncomfortable and awkward; but more than that, emotions can be contagious.

So with  that said I hope Judy and I can extend positive emotions of understanding, hope and clarity about yourself or someone you know.

Energy is our most sacred resource.  It is in all of us, it is what connects you and I and the entire cosmos together….and yet most of us are never taught how to manage it.

Emotional Regulation: 75 percent of careers are derailed for reasons related to emotional competencies, (Emotional Intelligence) including inability to handle interpersonal problems; unsatisfactory team leadership during times of difficulty or conflict; or inability to adapt to change or elicit trust.

    What and who are sensitives

An alternative way to understand hyperactivity and inattention (what spirit told her) a couple years ago.

How Sensory abundance can look like ADHD or anxiety

How not fostering your True Self can look like anxiety and depression.

Remembering and Being who you really are, can help

Sensory Overload Trauma/trauma (PTSD, ASD, etc)

     Tantrums vs Meltdowns

Impacts on: Social Situations and Behavior Effect on Families (Parents and Siblings) Tips and Techniques

Amygdala is the circuit to alarm the body

ADHD IS NOT a gift Or a superpower. Or some kind of special entrepreneurial mindset.

The diagnosis means that you think differently, and your brain is wired differently.

Trauma layover :Anxiety, hypervigilant avoid stimuli and easily startled

    Overview of the 5 Senses:
Visually sensitive individuals are sensitive to too much interaction and pick up all nuances..

Auditories are highly attune to sound and hear what others dont hear that literally can cause pain.

Voice patterns can cause sensory issues.

    Scents and chemical disorders

Taste is usually noticed through a childs perspective.

Tactile is noticed with socks, shoe types, belts and tags on shirts.

The hologram of the body and how emotions get stored.

Always look at the antecedents and ask a traumatized reaction to the moment that took the person “ off line “

    About Judy:

Judy Lipson is a Licensed Professional Counselor and former special educator who began her private practice, Spiral Wisdom in 2002 to work with kids and adults of all ages who are Sensitives, which means (highly attuned to the five senses, energy, intuition, and empathy).

She is a writer, speaker, clinician, and educational consultant who teaches about metaphysics, transformation, and how to engage the gifts of being a Sensitive, while minimizing the challenges that so many experience in this lifetime.

  • Rewiring our Hormonal Wellbeing for ADHD, Anxiety, Depression and Beyond (without medication)

Is it ADHD, Imbalanced Hormones, Menopause... or Something Else?

Today I’m bringing back the beautiful and bright Dr. Felice Gersh, where we will be discussing overall mental health, ADHD, and the link to Hormones and how they impact your brain, moods & wellbeing.

Make sure you watch our first episode where Dr. Gersh did an incredible job of weaving together what we now know about the Endocannabinoid System and how it relates to aging.

Now, as a woman who masked my ADHD until mid life through an unfair advantage of having a background in Functional and self-healing with the right lab work and supplements, living my dream job as a serial entrepreneur, and being a clinical hypnotherapist, which allowed me access to cleaning up my own traumas - it still comes with it’s challenges.

Stay till the end because we will be breaking open the nuances of mental health and how it relates to the symphony of our hormones, and so much more.

    And….

With four times adult women being diagnosed with ADHD today than children - it's time to go deeper with answers now More now than ever, especially considering those with ADHD already have a 50% increase of anxiety and depression - and that 1 in 4 ADHD women will attempt suicide in their lifetime compared to a neurotypical individual.

The medical model leans towards pharmaceuticals, versus looking at holistic Psychiatry - so we completely by-pass promoting the time to really dial in our emotional, hormonal, environmental, trauma and physical wellbeing.

Here’s a quote from today's Guest, Dr Felice Gersh:

Once a female hits puberty we put her on birth control, and once she goes into menopause, she is put on an SSRI, and after that, if you’re really not doing great, they’ll just remove your female life force organs

To sum it up, its a personal mission of mine, as I'm sure it's Dr Gersh’s - in bringing a new integrative approach so we can share it with YOU and other medical professionals, coaches and therapists.

Our guest covers all areas of women’s health.

Dr. Gersh is renowned for her expertise in the hormonal management of women, with a unique specialization in PCOS, which affects 1 in 10 women.

She also approaches the female aging process in a holistic manner, comprehensively addressing the negative impact of sleep disturbances, pharmaceuticals, environmental toxins, nutrient and hormonal deficiencies, gut microbiome imbalances, and chronic stress.

    What you’ll awaken to:

    Is ADHD Nature versus nurture?

Pertaining to ADHD - very little research is done on how hormonal influences on the Brain in women

How Trauma may be a cause and effect of ADHD

The bio- psycho- social approach - focuses on the environmental, psychological, and biological factors at play in a person’s life, and then developing a tailored multi-pronged approaches for support.

-The 4 root causes of ADHD Symptoms (genetic, neurological, nutritional and environmental)

The interrelated ecosystem of genetic, epigenetic, cellular, and microbiome-related influences.

Lab Testing & Genetics: COMT is a key enzyme in the elimination of dopamine.
A Val/Val gene has increased COMT activity, which leads to lower dopamine levels and relatively lower prefrontal cognitive function than in individuals with Met/Met Genes.

What is the relationship between hormones and brain function?

What is the relationship between estrogen and ADHD?

How can taking hormones as with contraceptives or in menopause impact brain health and ADHD?

What makes ADHD in women different than in men?

Research has confirmed that the brain is a target organ for estrogen and that estrogen’s neuronal effects have functional consequences.

Specifically, estrogen has been found to stimulate dopamine and serotonin receptors in the brain.

Estrogen acts as a dopamine agonist, which increases dopamine activity

The changes in estrogen levels at puberty and again at menopause can dramatically impact a woman’s ADHD symptoms, along with her ability to function.

The essential hormones for mental health in both women and men -- estrogen, thyroid, oxytocin, cortisol, progesterone and insulin -- and their relationship with key neurotransmitters and the brain

    Phytoestrogens to support estrogen receptors.

How fasting can help balance hormones, but dieting can be bad for mental health

How stress breaks down the key barriers in the microbiome and cause leakage through the blood brain barrier and increase neuroinflammation

Replacing hormones is not enough -- how you need to optimise your circadian rhythms, nutrition, detoxification, relationships and relaxation for better mental health
Too much dopamine leads to addiction. Too little serotonin leads to depression. Chronic stress drives down both.
Psychobiotics: Bacteria out numbers our human cells by 10 to 1 and 99 percent of the genetic information we carry is also held within the microbiome. New research shows that certain probiotic strains perform as well as SSRI’s.
Suggested Supplements: I’m creating a supplement stack specifically for ADHD- Coming Soon.
Omegas, for the importance of Fat and cholesterol for the brain.
    B Vitamins
    Magnesium
    OPC’s
    Vitamin D
    DHEA - for depression
    Multi / Probiotic
    Top Lifestyle Tips:
TAKE care of yourself – Fix your Sleep, Fix your Diet, Fix your Stressors
HORMONES – Balance your thyroid, adrenal, sex hormones, insulin
    EXCLUDE reactive foods
    ZINC, MAGNESIUM and other minerals
    ESSENTIAL fatty acids
    EXERCISE and energy
    B VITAMINS and other vitamins
    RESTORE the Microbiome
    AMINO acids and Protein

    The Importance of Cellular Electricity:
Problems in mitochondria, the cell’s powerhouses, as well as oxidative stress, have been associated with several neurodegenerative diseases.

Plant-based protein is shown to be better than meat for midlife women

    Neurotransmitters and Sleep:
Brain Seratonin Neurons support our sleep hormone melatonin. WIthout enough estrogen - most is made in the ovaries, but can make from the brain.

How a decrease in estradiol in your brain decreases with age and this has a tremendous impact why after menopause mental health issues dramatically rise in women who previously have experienced depression and anxiety

After menopause, an estrogen-deficient brain brings a 400 percent increased risk of having mental health problems

We loose estradiol post-menopause, which increases mental health issues such as anxiety and ADHD

Men make 6-10 times more estrogen in the brain - which is why women have a much harder time with mental health.

    AGING and NEUROINFLAMMATION:
Microglia are key to maintaining the health of the brain from mental health to cognitive function.

The microglia are the surveillance system of the brain and if toxins get into the brain, or an infection or a brain injury, they go into a crazy state of activity to deal with the damage and trauma. They then secrete dissolving enzymes and damaged tissue so they can absorb it and make healthy tissues. The issue is, when there's not enough estrogen in the brain to help modulate, the microglia starts producing massive amounts of enzyme and start to damage normal healthy tissue in the brain of there's not enough estrogen to buffer taking the essential tissue needed for brain health

This is one of the reasons why women tend to have almost three times the incidence of alzheimer's disease as males - because estrogen helps to maintain the production of acetylcholine which is key for cementing and creating cognition and memory recall.

Labwork: How to test for genetics and accurate supplementation.

  • Autumn’s Elemental Shift into Metal: Letting Go & Nutritional Energy Management

Autumn is a time of establishing a rhythmic order and turning inward.

The softer calm and re-centering energy grounds us from a restless mind and body.

As Women, we innately “nest” in the fall as we prepare our hearts and home with comfort foods brimming with sensational scents of garlic, fennel and sustaining broths.

Today’s video is all about exploring the biorhythms of our life force and Chi that is represented by the season of Autumn in respect to Ancient Chinese Principle

...So YOU can energetically and physiologically Shift your Inner + Outer Being

Fall represents the Lungs and Large Intestine

Fall corresponds to the lungs, skin, and large intestine. The lungs and large intestine are in charge of digestion and elimination.

Anything that does not move in the system stagnates and eventually becomes toxic

That’s why Fall is a great time to cleanse the physical and emotional toxins that accumulate in the system on a more transient, day-to-day basis.

Fall is also Brimming Full of Inspiration

The element that is represented in the Fall is METAL and it houses our source of new ideas and is where new emotions take shape, since it’s our inhalation-connection (lung) to the universe.

    When it comes to EMOTIONS…

“The Large Intestine ‘lets go’ of what is no longer necessary.

A healthy balance between the Lung and Large Intestine is demonstrated by a person that can honor commitments, but then let go of a relationship when it is over.”

It’s a time to let go of old ideas, beliefs, and attachments, leaving room for new space to grow and evolve.

Next, let’s brief over the Autumn + Vital Skin Health

Skin is our largest organ, but it is the LAST to receive essential building blocks from your daily food choices.

Essentially the ability to convert the energy and metabolism from inner intestinal track through out the rest of the body - is key.

Why Dry Skin + Pesky Breakouts are at their worst during Fall.
Frequent dry spots, skin irritation and ailments like blemishes and psoriasis can be at their worst during Autumn months.

Warm and cool air trap the skin’s cellular turn-over, met with the natural shifts biorhythm cause inconsistency and much needed exfoliation and rich oils to replenish the deep layers of the skin.

I’l be sharing an entire episode and video to how to transition your skin care routine for the fall.

    Yin + Yang = Cause + Affect
The inability to eliminate through regular bowel movements or continue to move the lymphatic system is critical, especially because we have more lymph than blood.

If the Lungs are strong, the skin will be lustrous and firm.

Here’s some tips for Fall Nutrition and a Shopping List to make it easy peasy to shift into the Fall Season - to benefit your best health.

Add nourishing {yin foods} to your diet to promote body fluid, soothe the lungs and protect you from dryness.

Fist, the obvious: Eat with the season

Your dry, or brittle hair and sun-worshipped skin will thank you for it.

    Here’s your Hit List

Wild rice, raw onions, garlic, radish, turnip, Kohlrabi, Cinnamon, Scallions, Cloves, Fennel, mustard, basil, and nutmeg are considered metal foods.

These foods have a dispersing effect and promote energy circulation.

They mostly benefit sluggish, damp, lethargic, and cold-blooded people.
