In the second installment of David Maldonado’s episode he continues to share with us rich family history highlighting his family's humble origins in Nogales, Mexico, and their courageous decision to immigrate to the United States around 1974.
His father taking a job as a dishwasher while attending school and in electronics in Phoenix while the family of five (soon to be six) lived in a single room. David initially pursued the violin, but at age 10, he found his true passion when he was captivated by his father's ability to play the guitar's steel strings, an event that "consumed his soul." He and his brother, Luis (now the lead guitarist for Foreigner), were later trained by the royal family of the guitar The Romero Family a group knighted by the king of Spain, but David eventually gravitated to Flamenco.
After a 10-year detour into the corporate sales world, including a senior position at Qualcomm, David returned to music at the urging of his future wife and the desire to create a legacy following his older brother's death. He has since found international success, with his album Davicas charting at number two on the Billboard World Music Charts, all while prioritizing being a dedicated single father to his two children following his wife's passing.
