On the 6th episode we had the pleasure of sitting down with Steve Caliguri - learning about his family’s history and rich Italian culture. 

 Steve shares stories about his grandparents’ immigrant experience, family traditions, and the role of food—in maintaining cultural identity and family bonds. The interview also shares the military service of two generations, Steve’s grandfather served in World War I, and his father in World War II. Steve recounts his upbringing in the Italian section of Newton, Massachusetts, the importance of Catholic schooling in his family, and his brothers’ educational paths. In this second installment of Andrew’s episode, it chronically tracing his life from a high school graduate working construction in San Diego to his military service, his career in Border Patrol, and his evolving entrepreneurial ventures. Andy’s story is one of perseverance, adaptability, and growth through various life circumstances, including early fatherhood, early financial education, and career transitions.

Professionally, Andy’s entrepreneurial spirit was inspired by his grandfather and an early chance encounter with a car seller who recommended the book The Richest Man in Babylon. This book influenced Andy’s financial habits, leading him to start a party rental business that helped support his family. Although he eventually sold the business, his drive for entrepreneurship continued, manifesting in real estate investments and starting a construction company after receiving his contractors license. 

Throughout the story, Andy emphasizes the importance of family support, faith, education, and seizing opportunities even amid uncertainty.

In this 5th episode of the show we sat down with our good friend Andrew Beltrán.

Andrew Beltran shares a rich family history rooted in Mexico’s Jalisco region and the border city of Tijuana. Andrew recounts stories about his great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, and his own upbringing, highlighting themes of resilience, entrepreneurship, migration, and the pursuit of better opportunities. The narrative spans from the early 1900s during the Mexican Revolution to modern times, illustrating how family members adapted and thrived despite hardships. After supporting the Mexican Revolution his great-grandfather settled in a small town in Jalisco, where his grandfather was born and raised, later on migrated to Tijuana, eventually building a taxi syndicate and a real estate legacy. 

The podcast also delves into the struggles and successes of subsequent generations, including Andy’s parents’ journey, his own childhood in a low-income border community, and the importance of education as a pathway to upward mobility. The episode is a celebration of family legacy, cultural heritage, and the entrepreneurial spirit passed down through generations.

On the podcast's fourth episode we had the pleasure of sitting down with a good friend, Edward Nava. 

Edward details early stories from his grandmother to childhood memories with his mother in this episode.

He realizes how he may have inherited the entrepreneurial risk taking traits from the women in his family. Edward reflects how his grandmother taught him how to work not only hard but smart in his early childhood. 

Edwards shares how in his early childhood he would also help his mother door knock houses selling their cleaning services, known as door-to-door sales. Which helped him later on in life.

While working for a local government job in the county of San Diego Edward realizes that wasn't the life he wanted for his future. He needed to explore his options, leading him to commission only jobs using the skills and hard work ethics he learned from his grandmother and mom.

In this episode I have the pleasure of interviewing a good friend; Mike Geovany. 

Mike shares his family's interesting history from Guatemala, more specifically the Pajaltac area. 

In his unique story you will learn that his great grandfather was abandoned as a child on the door steps of a wealthy family as his biological family considered he would have more resources to live a successful life with them, which later on in life he did.

Mike also shares his culture very much so practices arranged marriages as his entire lineage has been arranged to marry someone by the choosing of their mother.  

We dive deep into how his family made the decision to leave Guatemala and head to the US. Sharing his grandfather was fleeing from political corruption from Guatemalas civil war in the 1970's-80's finding asylum in the states.

Geovany shares personal stories from his early childhood, his decision to leave his hometown and detailing memories from his travel journey from Pajaltac to San Diego.

In this episode I have the pleasure of sitting down with my good friend Eduardo Zamora, Eduardo and I have been friends for over a decade. 

Eduardo shares his family’s history as they come from Ciudad Juárez by way of Mexico City. Sharing the story and risks his grandmother at a young age took to provide a better life for her family.

You will hear as his family has made moves between San Diego and Fresno sharing memories of his time back in Fresno. He describes a traumatic experience with a dog that left a scar *literal* in his life.
