Today, we’re joined by famous cartoonist and creative designer, Dan Piraro.  

Dan’s the man behind the comic strip Bizarro and it’s crazy he’s been drawing one of these comics every day for over 30 years.  

We chat about Bizarro, living in Mexico, artificial intelligence, online scams, and other topics, but some of the things Dan says really stuck with me after the podcast.  

He’s a very inspiring man who shares with us some nuggets of wisdom about life, and how to live with purpose and passion.

We have a very empowering and inspirational episode for you today, as we speak to Michelle Carter, the gold medalist in shot put at the Rio Summer Olympics in 2016, and the current American record holder at shot put. 

She’s the first US woman to ever win a gold medal at shot put, and you can tell she’s extremely passionate about her sport, having won more awards than I can name.

Michelle’s got trials for this year’s Olympics coming up in June, and undoubtedly she’ll be competing again in Tokyo this year.

We talk about how she got into shot put, what it’s like competing at the Olympics, and how it feels to win gold...

Today, I’m joined by Caitlin McFarland and Emily Gipson, the founders of ATX Television Festival.

They met in LA while they were both working for Fox Studios, and realized there were loads of film festivals but none for TV. With the focus on bringing fans of TV and putting them together with the people who make it, they started ATX.

This year is their 10-year anniversary, and we talk about how they started the festival and how it’s going virtual this year.

Then we just talk about TV, our favorite shows, and how much the industry has changed over the years.

We have a special episode today with Chef Ji Kang, who is joining us to talk about the restaurant labor shortage and what’s really going on.  

Basically, people are saying that, because of stimulus checks and extended unemployment benefits, restaurant workers aren’t wanting to go back to work, and this has caused a labor shortage. So there are jobs, there are people to do the jobs, but they’re not going to, and it’s affecting the restaurant industry.  

Ji Kang is a friend of mine, and the executive chef at Sloane's Corner in Downtown Dallas, and he has experienced the consequences of this labor shortage, and has come out of it with a few stories to share with us.  

We’re going to give you perspectives from employee to manager of why these problems are happening, and what we can do to fix them...

What is cryptozoology? We break it down in this episode with the cryptozoologist and musician Lyle Blackburn.

Lyle basically studies the phenomenon of unconfirmed monsters - think Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, and he even told me about a dinosaur that lives in Congo. I don’t know, my mind is open! There’s been a ton of Bigfoot sightings in Texas, and it’s cool to talk to someone who knows about this stuff.  

He takes it all very seriously, it’s all pretty fascinating, and I really enjoyed Lyle’s professionalism and expertise in this.

Today, my guest is Gary Morris. You might have heard the name before, and you’ve definitely heard his song "Wind Beneath my Wings." 

Gary was massive in the ’80s, and had a fair few number one singles. He even played in the White House, and he tells the story of his trajectory of fame.

He sings a tune from his latest album which is awesome, and tells some great stories about getting into the industry.

Gary even shares with us a story of a UFO sighting he's had, that he's never shared publicly before!

My guests today are Jake and Conor Allyn. Jake is an actor, Conor is a director, they’ve been making films together for years and have just released No Man's Land.   

No Man's Land looks at the border crisis, and shows us the two perspectives of the Mexicans coming over, and the Texans on the other side. It’s streaming on Amazon so it's accessible to watch online, and is just a phenomenal film.  

We talk about the movie, the reality of the no man's land, and what it’s like to finish a 7-year project.
