Working holiday visas are being rushed through, often within 24 hours in a bid to increase the number of backpackers entering the state. 

This comes after a call by the Tourism and Transport Forum (TTF) to increase the maximum working visa age from 35 to 50 in a bid to attract more skilled workers.

The much loved CY O’Connor Village Pub was completely guttered by fire in June last year, however, after a $5 million rebuild, the pub will reopen at the beginning of 2023.

The hunt is now on to get enough bar, floor and kitchen staff to open on schedule.

CY O’Connor Village Pub owner Katey-Jane Dawkins told 6PR Afternoons they have used the rebuild to make the pub better than ever.

Until now backyard poultry has been banned in the City of Vincent, but that will soon change with chickens, bees and pigeons allowed for residents to become more sustainable at home.

Emma Cole, City of Vincent Mayor told Ian Backley, filling in for Jo McManus, that there was a big push from the community to remove these tough restrictions.

"It's an old local law where the old government thought it would be a public health issue but we took a fresh look at it and we acknowledge that it's not about prohibiting chickens - it's about making sure people are doing the right thing," Ms Cole told Ian.
