Thursday saw him broadcasting live from the Top Didj Gallery in Katherine, where he first caught up with gallery general manager Petrena Ariston, and traditional owner and local artist Manuel Pamkal.

Millsy's first day in the NT saw him chat to one of the town's characters – Bazza, the curator at the Timber Creek Police Station Museum.

Bazza considers himself more of a stuffed exhibit than a museum curator but, as Millsy was quick to discover, he's a font of knowledge on Timber Creek.

"I have some friends up and they say why do you talk about the negative all the time, and I said well I can't talk about the positive cos it wasn't the truth," Bazza said about Timber Creek's history and treatment of Indigenous people in the town.

Bazza predicted big things for Timber Creek in coming years, with millions of dollars being spent by the Australian Army on its Bradshaw Field Training Facility.

"Timber Creek is going to be very big in the next five to 10 years," he said.

Jaco Venter is the Chief District Ranger for the Judbarra Gregory National Park and joined Millsy to discuss the life of a remote ranger in the Northern Territory.

We loved this chat with Steve Mills and Hairy Dog (also known as Greg Harman), owner of Hairy Dog's Fishing Camp out of Kununurra.

Hearing Frauke Bolten-Boshammer's inspirational story was quite remarkable for Steve Mills, in Kununurra for his Long Way to the Top tour through WA and the NT.

Just three years after moving to Kununurra from Germany in 1981 to start a new journey, Frauke's husband took his own life. 

She stayed in the town with her children and forged a diamond empire famous around the world.
