It’s not uncommon for people to work at Camp and then go off to do unique and interesting and impressive things. Like colleges and universities, we have a vast alumni network that stretches across the globe and includes a plethora of interesting jobs.

But what might be a little less common, is to have a staff member get an internship with the White House after interviewing from her room at Camp, working at the White House, and then coming back for another Summer at Camp.

Claire Bradley, a counselor turned assistant village director, went from sunscreen, bug spray, chapel, and pool time to dressing in suits in the White House while working for the Office of the First Lady.

Now, she’s back at Camp again this Summer and we talked about her unique experience in my office for a new episode of the Lookout podcast.

In 1974, a young and passionate Dave Wright convinced a fellow classmate at IU to lead bicycle trips at Camp Tecumseh. 50 years later, after raising a family at Camp, working so many different jobs it’s hard to count, and assisting Dave in the leadership of Tecumseh, Beth Wright continues to lead Quilt Camp multiple times a year, and her impact spreads far and wide.
