On today’s episode of The Lopes Pod, Sean and Chris discuss the Colangelo Classic which saw GCU fall to Liberty 70-61. We discuss the game, what went well, and what takeaways can be brought into the remainder of non-conference play and heading into WAC play.

Lopes Up!

For the first time since 2002, GCU loses its home opener at the hands of Division II Davenport 82-73. A game that GCU never led and trailed by 16 points, the Lopes were never able to get into rhythm and struggled to a 2-18 clip from the 3PT Line.

On today's episode, we discuss the loss and what needs to happen before Friday's matchup with Illinois. We also highlight the WAC action for the day with a new segment "Around the WAC in 60 Seconds (3 Minutes)". To hear more from Coach Majerle's post game press conference (30:00).

The 225 day wait between the last game of the 2018-19 season (at WVU) and the home opener (vs CSSB) is over! In the Lopes first game action of the season they put together an 87-60 victory over the San Bernardino Yotes.

After 608 days between his last live game action, Isiah Brown showed off what he can do on the court with a team high 26 points. Carlos Johnson impressed with 23 points, Freshman PG Jovan Blacksher impressed as well and put on a show for Lope Nation. Other notables, Alessandro Lever put together an impressive double-double (15 PTS/13 REB)and his strong offseason work seems to poise him for a big season.
