What is baptism all about? Today we recall the Baptism of our Lord. Jesus is baptized by John in the Jordan River and we talk about why we baptize and what it means.

What have been some unexpected gifts in your life? In this message, Pastor Paul talks about the unexpected gift of Jesus and the unexpected people God uses to share the message.

Be not afraid. That’s a message we can all afford to hear from time to time. The Angel Gabriel brings that message from God to a young girl who will carry the Son of God. That’s a big deal. God calls us into action as well,. and sometimes into things that make us uncomfortable. We can count on the same assurance as Mary because we know that God is with us. Be not afraid.

What do we have in common with superheroes, John (the baptizer)? What masks do we hide behind? Are answering the call to makes straight the pathways for Jesus?

The young person heard between the reading and the beginning of the sermon is responding to Pastor Paul's call to go out into the congregation and tell people that God loves them and that Jesus is coming.
