Welcome to the HABITS Mini-sode series! Every other episode will be a mini-sode. Each mini-sode we'll discuss bite size habit facts to break down the different key elements & talking points about habits. It will reveal how you can make change easy FOR YOU and how you can shift from overwhelmed to introspection. What we will ask over and over again is, "What works for you?" because at the center of everything is YOU. This means your opinion MATTERS. How you FEEL matters. What you LIKE and DON'T like matters. Change is a personal experience and that means finding your patterning for change will be unique to you. These mini-sodes will provide tools and mindset shifts that you can use on your journey to creating transformation in your life.
In this episode, we discuss two different mindset shift tools to help learn HOW we can start to challenge our thoughts. When it comes to creating habits the wild card variable is belief. To make a habit stick it is more than repetition and understanding our cues and rewards, but it is changing our belief system about ourselves and shifting into believing that we CAN change. These tools are exercises I use actively, so I'm consistently, in micro ways, challenging my negative belief patterns and thoughts. I hope these tools will help you as much as they've helped me. Enjoy the episode!
Examples Counter Statements To Use To Challenge Your Thoughts:
Food - What I eat is not tied to my worth. I love and care for my body and am actively working towards taking care of myself regularly. Knowing I didn’t love what I ate and it made me feel bad is a notification for myself to note that for next time I may not love that meal choice because I feel sluggish and too full.
Body Image - My weight is NOT tied to beauty. I am beautiful no matter my size. ALSO, my worth is not tied to my size and my worth is not tied to my beauty. My worth is intrinsic. Every inch, curve, bump is loved, gorgeous, and yummy. My body has gotten me through all the best and worst times of my life and I appreciate and love her. Thank YOU body for loving me and supporting me
*Note on Body Image Counter Statement: I said in the episode "Being heavy is not tied to beauty." This is because I gained weight at that time and wanted to rewrite my narrative on being heavier and understanding on a deeper level that being heavy has NOTHING to do with my beauty. I am beautiful and it is not tied to my worth. I changed it to "my weight" so the statement would be more universal for everyone.
