Today we're going to talk about the subgenre of mafia romance! I read 4 books: His Ruthless Heart by Roxy Sloane, The Mafia Queen's Captive by Deanna Port, Savage by Erin Russell, and Painted Scars by Neva Altaj, and then I reviewed and compared them to find out what the differences are between the different pairings and how they are written within the genre. 

There weren't really any surprises in store for me with this subgenre, as even if certain tropes didn't show themselves between the pages, some, like arranged marriage, were at least mentioned in passing. This week included a DNF, which I'm not going to name, since to be honest, I didn't even give that one a fair shot; its only crime was being too similar in nature to His Ruthless Heart.

After hearing the news about Alex Formenton's signing to the Edmonton Oilers, I needed to vent, so I put my Mafia Romance episode on hold until next week, to both vent and then introduce you to the main men from Lucky Pucker, Puck Me Secretly and The Ledger, so you can find solace in fictional men despite our abject disappointment in the real ones. 

I give my take on the events leading up to the Hockey Canada 5 Trial, and talk a bit about what I think really happened that day. We discuss some of the content in We Breed Lions as well. Hockey Culture in Canada is out of control, and we ALL deserve better. I believe E.M. ♡

Mama Stanley is circulating a petition online that has almost 60,000 signatures last time I checked to have the Oilers remove Alex Formenton. Wild.

I read 4 books: Burnout by Rebecca Jenshak, Garron Park by Nordika Night, Stupid Dirty by Erin Russell and Aspen's Stunt by Melissa Grace, and then I reviewed and compared them to see what the differences are between MF, MM, and sapphic pairings and how they are written within the genre. 

It was an enjoyable time and I learned some really interesting things, as well as being inspired to read more Erin Russell for Episode 2! :-)
