1 Peter 5:6,7 says, "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." We can trust the Lord in bringing our cares and burdens to the Lord, knowing that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. He is to be our strength. However, many of us have put our cares on life support, holding onto them while thinking we have yielded them over to God. Thank the Lord for His patience with us in our weakness,  for His Word to correct us, and His Spirit to lead us.

The fruit of the Spirit is a hallmark in the life of a believer in Christ. We read of this fruit in Galatians 5:22,23, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law." The Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity, has been likened at times to a force or an energy. He has been credited with manifestations such as drunkenness, holy laughter, jerking, twitching, and shaking. There are words outside of Scripture attributed to Him, encounters appearing more as conversations between two friends having coffee rather than acknowledging the holiness and reverence of God. There is talk of activating the Holy Spirit and His gifts and inviting Him to corporate gatherings. 

Join me as we take a look at some of these manifestations and beliefs while we dive into Scripture. Perhaps you have heard this phrase. Typically, it is not an endearing thing to say when uttered, as it refers to those who place a great emphasis on the importance of Scripture. The implication is that those who place this emphasis are in essence worshiping the Bible and potentially not giving way to the Holy Spirit. If you have ever heard of the New Apostolic Reformation, you might have heard the name C. Peter Wagner. He is credited for coining this term and he believed that a second apostolic age began in 2001. One of the fundamental beliefs surrounding this movement is the restoration of the office of the Apostle and with that, governing authority. However, as of late, there are individuals who deny this movement exists, claiming it is a conspiracy theory on par with the Illuminati. Those who acknowledge it are called hypercritics, jealous, and embittered because they simply do not have the power of the Holy Spirit demonstrated in their personal lives.
