The Lovesick Scribe Podcast

Bethel Church in Redding, California, is part of a global movement known as the New Apostolic Reformation. Their teachings and their music have been integral in perpetuating aberrant practices that are finding inroads into solid churches. Given their influence and popularity, it is important to recognize and to warn others about the influence of Bethel and the NAR.

Join us in this discussion regarding Doug Geivett and Holly Pivec's book, Reckless Christianity, as we consider these concerns.

Every day, children go missing due to running away or being kidnapped and trafficked. Psychics have claimed to supernaturally know information regarding some of these individuals, providing information to police and other authorities. These same types of claims have also been stated by leaders such as Dan McCollam, who oversees the Finders Ministry. This organization claims to train people in activating their prophetic gift so that they can find people and even lost pets and lost items. Is this Biblical, or is it New Age in what they are doing?

Join me as we look at a recent interview regarding this topic, and we consider it in light of Scripture.

In Ephesians 6, Apostle Paul leaves the saints in Ephesus with the final instructions of putting on the armor of God. The understanding of the armor of God in some circles has crossed into the practices and teachings of prophetically putting on the armor of God and making decrees about this armor. Others point to self and our own self-importance when teaching about it. What is a proper understanding of the armor of God, given that we do engage in spiritual warfare as born-again believers?

Join me along with a special guest, as we consider Ephesians 6 in light of teachings within the hyper charismatic movement and Scripture in context.

The modern deliverance movement teaches about various spirits in operation that are alleged in Scripture. These demonic entities are named after Biblical people such as Judas, Absalom, Leviathan, and Jezebel. While Jezebel has been a common spirit discussed in this movement, a new demon has been rearing its mythical head over the past several years. According to individuals such as Emma Stark, this demon is active and stealing people's destinies. Is this spirit found in Scripture?

Join me as we consider this teaching in light of Scripture.

Mantles. Alignment. Anointing. These are but a few of the words that may be familiar to those who have been in the New Apostolic Reformation movement. Some leaders have created dictionaries of words to know the definitions of associated words. Those who have never been involved in this belief system may find it difficult to navigate a conversation with those who are in it.

Join me along with Mike Beckett as we discuss some of the NAR buzzwords.
