idski is trying self help. Through thick paraphrasing of one bible quote that isn't related at all to the subject, idski walks an audio path to finding a certain part of himself that is overlooked ( by himself ) in hopes that it can become the thing that can save his soul.
This episode was produced, freestyled, and written by miles "idski" lindsey and it was was barely mixed and recorded on his ipad with vocals from the earbud mic.
We all deal with or have dealt with people that seem to avoid accountability. To error or mislead someone is human nature, but to avoid saying "I'm sorry", to deny that uncomfortable acknowledgement can cause more pain than necessary. Forgiveness is the almighty solution, but 'TRUE forgiveness' as Denise Matthews points out in this episode is 'the hardest thing in the world' and 'nearly impossible without Jesus'. May we right our wrongs with people that are willing, and let us Make Sure The People We Know Are People That Grow.
This episode was entirely produced, recorded, and barely mixed with my phone and ear bud mic.
For some artists, they get popular quickly. Maybe it's their location, the "it" factor, inside connections. For some other artists, it takes them years of hard work and dedication. Through the discipline, they are able to carve out a niche for themselves and might get popular through that. Some artists never make it. Some get close then something thwarts it.
Jimmy Scott aka Little Jimmy Scott was a jazz vocalist like no other. From his phrasing to his ability to put so much emotion into his voice, Jimmy was recognized by anyone whose seen him that he was special. Held back from a bad deal at Savoy Records, Jimmy Scott's attempts to record and play live hit obstacle after obstacle for decades. After a performance at a funeral for his friend Doc Pomus, Jimmy Scott was able to get a new deal and gained popularity in his late 70's.
This 'Lum podcast is about the ones that don't make it, barely make it, should have made it, and sometimes beyond all odds sometimes do...even if it takes forever.

This piece is a tribute to the late, Great Denise Matthews formerly known as Vanity in the 1980's. Denise had a rough childhood. She also was thrown into the entertainment industry at a fairly early age. She rose to fame as the front singer in Prince's protege group, Vanity 6 and kept her career going in some Hollywood movies. After nearly dying from a drug overdose in 1994, Denise Matthews devoted herself to God and became a Pastor. Her transformation was pure and passionate. In a rough time in my own life, I listened to sermons from Ms. Matthews and was so moved by her devotion, wisdom, and growth, that I had to share what I learned through this episode.
Denise tells her own story mostly in this episode. The samples are mostly PRN and gospel to go along with the topic. It was produced by me ( idski/intricate dialect/Miles L. ) in Hamtramck and mixed and mastered by Timo 1-2 in Cairo.
