Kris & Amy needed two episodes to cover a movie as deep as Doctor Strange. In Part 2, they break down the film’s strong representation of female characters. The Madames also dive headfirst into the heavy metaphysical & psychological themes that are expertly woven into the story. And they make some comparisons between Doctor Strange and other super heroes - both Marvel & not.

And they thoroughly discuss the misogyny that pervades the movie & leads to an ending they’d rather forget. 

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 falls outside the MCU proper. It stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Sally Field, Dane DeHaan, Denis Leary, and (for some reason) Paul Giamatti.

In honor of Black History Month, Kris shares a blog post published last year during the run of The Falcon & the Winter Soldier. The show sparked a lot of conversation, to put it mildly, on social media. Kris & Amy rarely address that sort of thing on the podcast because they focus primarily on content. Social media can also be a pretty toxic environment, and they don’t want that energy to infect themselves or the podcast. But the sheer volume of ignorance flying around during Falcon and the Winter Soldier had Kris pulling out her pen.

This episode features the grand return of Amy! She and Kris discuss an overview of Eternals, a movie for which neither of them had strong feelings one way or the other. They talk about the deeper themes this movie touches upon but fails to do justice. The Madames discuss casting, performances, and especially relationships within the movie. Kris also explains why she was pretty confused at times, while Amy brings Thanos into a philosophical question.

Overall there’s one thing they both agree on: this is a weird movie.
