Today we tour both the Market Revolution and Industrial Revolution (which are related), and look at a little culture of the early 1800s. We'll even check out a little court case called McCulloch v. Maryland, and see how the Supreme Court expands the power of the federal government. Come take the tour!

Jefferson hopes for an Agrarian Republic, and has a spectacular first term, culminating in the Louisiana Purchase, which nearly doubles the size of the country. He wins his second term easily, but has a lot more trouble, even taking the country into a depression with his Embargo Act.

This week we tour Washington's Presidency, noting how he establishes the way things get done in the Executive Office, and how he sets up the Cabinet. Speaking of which, you'll see a lot of drama between Hamilton and Jefferson in the Cabinet....so much so that we'll get the first political parties out of their drama. Take the tour!

We'll visit the First Continental Congress and we'll talk about the shot heard round the world. We'll swing by the Second Continental Congress and see George Washington given command of the colonial army, and we'll see the effects of Thomas Payne's pamphlet called Common Sense. Finally, we'll see the vote for Independence - though it might not have taken place when you think it did! All that in less than thirty minutes! It's a whirlwind tour..come and join!

In this episode we'll take our tour down the road to Revolution. The British, hard up for money after the French and Indian War, start taxing the colonists. We'll see the reaction of the colonists to the Sugar, Townshend, and other acts, as well as look at how the Boston Massacre came about, and how it affected the mindset of the country.
