We are BACK!
On the first day of spring the Maker and the Drinker were lucky enough to head to the Barossa to chat to Paul Georgiadis, from Paulmara Wines.
This place is gorgeous, and the wines speak for themselves. With a rich family history in Viticulture and Wine Making, this chat breaks down the science of wine, and winemaker Jason Barrette even pops in for a quick chat too.
One not to be missed!

What a story. This winery is one of the most divine in Australia and the man behind it, Charlie Melton sure has a tale to be believed. After a failed trip to Uluru and ending up in the Barossa Valley, a toss of the coin decided his path onwards and now we sit in a Church on his property, tasting decades of their famous Shiraz.
The man behind this iconic wine is a down to earth, hardworking bloke whose ute has over 200,000km’s on it. Join us as we are captured by the story of Charles Melton Wines.

Ian Hongell is a Barossa Valley winemaker through and through. At one of the region’s most prestigious wineries, he crafts collectible wines from some of the world’s oldest vines.
After spending almost two decades at the Barossa’s Peter Lehmann Wines, where he rose to chief winemaker, Ian joined Torbreck in early 2017. Here he makes full-flavoured, powerful wines that age gracefully for years. It all starts with the best grapes he can get his hands on and a gentle approach in the winery.
We record this in the most beautiful smelling shed full of oak, barrels and red wine goodness!

A 25 year overnight success!
Tim Smith used to work alongside Australian Rock Royalty. Being around the likes of Cold Chisel and Midnight Oil, music was his journey. Soon enough after expecting his first child, he grabbed some casual work at Yalumba, stayed there for almost two decades, and decided it was time for the Tim Smith name (and thumb print) to be on a label.
Today we are recording inside his brand new winery on the first day of crushing on the new site. It’s been four years of planning, and finally the day has arrived.
Get an insight into a passionate, hardworking man who loves his wine!

Micha. What an incredible story. Fleeing war torn Serbia to make a change in his life, he ended up with $100 from a stranger and made his way to the US, where he ended up working for the Bush Family! There’s plenty more in between including how he got his love of food and wine, and working at one of the most prestigious clubs in South Australia. His new business ‘Vino With Micha’ is taking off too, and we can’t wait for you to enjoy his story.

Georges on Waymouth. There isn’t much more to be said. This incredible restaurant has been one of the most successful dining experiences in Adelaide for almost two decades, and there’s a reason for that. George and his incredible staff have endured the most challenges anyone could face over the past 24 months, but as expected they’ve seen it through to the other side.
George also has an incredible passion for wine. Greek wine. And he owns a business called Byzantine Wine Merchants. During this episode, The Maker and the Drinker learn all there is to know about Greek wine, and you can tell by George’s passion, he knows what he is talking about!
