As of 2023, British native Robert Maudsley holds the unenviable record of having spent the most time in solitary confinement; a staggering figure of over 40 years, or a whopping 16,000 days.

But those unfathomable numbers mask a truly tragic story. One in which Maudsley was born into truly horrific circumstances, and one where he was met with further terrors at nearly every turn.
