- Knowledge Comes First: Examples of Veneration of Knowledge – Shaykh Faraz RabbaniShaykh Faraz Rabbani relates some examples of veneration of knowledge he had experienced with his teachers. Illustrating that one should not be shy of seeking knowledge at any age, he starts with the story of one of his teachers, Shaykh Adib Kallas, insisting to sit at the back of a high-level class by a peer whom he considered more advanced.He relates that two distinguished scholars were invited to a wedding at the same time as this class, and requested Shaykh ʿAbd al-Razzaq al-Halabi, whose class it was, for permission to skip the class to attend. Shaykh ʿAbd al-Razzaq refused, and the scholars complied with his order.Shaykh Faraz also tells how he went once went to Shaykh Adib Kallas' house to find the usual students absent. He read extra, but as he left, noticed an obituary notice at the door: Shaykh Adib's brother had passed away the previous night, but he hadn't canceled his classes. In this podcast, Shaykh Abdurragmaan Khan starts by explaining what is divine decree and destiny. How Allah Most High has pre-ordained everything in existence, and everything happens by the will of Allah.
Shaykh Abdurragmaan explains how it is Allah who ultimately gives and forgives and things only happen through Allah Most High. Everything that happens in our lives whether it makes us happy or sad only happens by the decree of Allah.
Shaykh Abdurragmaan gives an important counsel too close, and that is that one should be pleased with every state one is in for it was decreed by Allah. Rather one should turn to Allah in it and strive to be patient and steadfast.

In this podcast, Shaykh Abdurragmaan Khan begins by cautioning the student to act upon one’s knowledge. How not acting upon one’s knowledge is madness as explained by Imam Ghazali. The one who acts upon their knowledge will be granted tremendous insight.
Shaykh Abdurragmaan goes on to give examples from the earlier Muslims how they were very keen to act upon their knowledge. So much so they would not admonish others until they were acting on what they were admonishing others about.
Shaykh Abdurragmaan ends by giving an important counsel to not deem anything of the Qur’an and Sunna small.
