Defensive errors at the back and a continued failure to put the ball in the net up front meant that Stephen Clemence’s first league game as Gillingham’s head coach ended in a 2-0 defeat at high-flying Wrexham at The Racecourse Ground.
It was a tough day on the road for Gills fans, with Ollie Palmer putting the hosts in front inside the opening minute of the game, and the day didn’t get much better for the travelling Gills contingent after that, with defender Ben Tozer adding a second after 71 minutes.
