We wrap up Thriller Month, get into some anime, and then hand the keys over to Horror Month with five weeks of challenges, Italian horror, and some questionable decisions.
00:01:34 — Oreo Hell
Somebody is charging $60 for four deep-fried Oreos, which immediately becomes less of a food story and more of a discussion about what the hell is wrong with people on the internet.
00:05:43 — RIP Pete Byrne
A quick remembrance of Naked Eyes lead singer Pete Byrne and some music nostalgia.
00:12:37 — Death Note
The latest anime project gets complicated. Death Note is good, Light is already getting on the nerves, L is creepy in a good way, and Attack on Titan may have permanently raised the bar too high.
00:16:04 — Vinland Saga — Netflix
Still working through Vinland Saga in the background while trying to figure out what direction the anime rabbit hole goes next.
THRILLER MONTH — FINAL ROUND
00:18:20 — Monster — Tubi
A Korean thriller with a creepy killer and a very unconventional final girl. Some of the tonal shifts are a little strange, but when it gets intense, it works.
00:18:48 — Midnight — Prime Video
A deaf woman and her mother become targets after crossing paths with a killer. Strong suspense when it settles in, even if the tonal shifts don’t always land.
00:20:28 — The Girl in the Spider’s Web — Starz
Claire Foy takes over as Lisbeth Salander. Not terrible, but coming after the Swedish films and Fincher’s version leaves it feeling like a step down.
00:21:48 — No Exit — Hulu
Blizzard, roadside shelter, kidnapped kid, and a setup that should work better than it does. Well made, but a little too telegraphed.
Rating: 3/5.
00:22:25 — The Invitation — Tubi
The dinner-party slow burn gets revisited. One of us still likes the psychological buildup; the other finds it too predictable and trope-heavy.
00:23:46 — The Woman in Cabin 10 — Netflix
Keira Knightley, a luxury boat, a possible murder, and a mystery that starts to work before giving away too much too early.
00:30:10 — Black Sheeps Trailer
Yes, apparently Black Sheep is getting a sequel called Black Sheeps, and that is enough to put a little joy back into the world. Also: somebody is finally getting challenged to watch the original.
00:33:45 — Completely Unnecessary Bumper
The new break bumper finally gets used exactly as intended: unnecessarily.
HORROR MONTH
00:34:32 — Horror Month Begins
October is here, and this year we’re not just grabbing random horror movies. We’re running five weekly themes, challenge movies, and a month-long Italian horror side quest.
00:39:33 — Week 1: Demon / Possessed
Demons, possession, exorcisms and anything else that feels spiritually unhealthy.
Challenge Movie: When Evil Lurks — Shudder
00:40:04 — Week 2: Foreign Horror
Get outside American horror and see what everybody else has been doing to traumatize people.
00:40:26 — Week 3: Found Footage
Cameras shake. People make bad decisions. Somebody keeps filming long after they absolutely should have stopped.
00:40:52 — Week 4: Zombie / Infected
Zombie, infected, rage virus — whatever technical argument we want to have, if everybody is eating everybody else, it probably counts.
00:41:31 — Week 5: Classic / Halloween Standards
Not necessarily old movies — the movies that feel essential when Halloween rolls around. Halloween, The Exorcist, The Shining, The Lost Boys, whatever belongs in your personal Halloween rotation.
00:42:34 — Tony’s Italian Horror Challenge
A month-long run through Italian horror classics, with one movie revealed each week.
Week 1: Deep Red — Tubi
Dario Argento kicks things off.
LISTS
00:54:47 — The 35 Best Demonic Possession Horror Movies — Collider
A list to help kick off Week 1, including Evil Dead (2013), When Evil Lurks, Saint Maud, The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Fallen, Demons, House, Evil Dead II, The Exorcist III, Sinister, Drag Me to Hell and more.
01:06:52 — Best New Horror Movies of 2026
A second list turns into a look at newer horror worth catching as October gets rolling.
UPCOMING / WHAT WE’RE WATCHING
01:06:59 — The Backrooms — HBO
One that has been sitting on the radar and may get added to the first week of Horror Month.
Obsession
Also getting added to the pile even though it doesn’t neatly fit one of the weekly categories. Horror Month is a guide, not homework.
MGP MOMENTS
00:03:49 — Deep Fry Yourself to Hell
For $60, apparently the smarter financial decision is buying enough Oreos and pancake batter to kill yourself at home.
00:04:30 — Oreo Hell
The segment officially names itself.
00:13:18 — Ryuk Saves Death Note
Light is irritating. L is creepy. Ryuk is doing just fine.
00:21:17 — We May Have Done Thriller Month Backwards
Three weeks of top-tier movies followed by the “pretty good” pile might not have been the ideal strategy.
00:31:19 — Black Sheep Math
“Stupid and silly and absurd.”
“Then it’s a 10 out of 5.”
00:34:32 — October Is Here
The second half officially becomes the Horror Month planning meeting.
00:40:46 — Our ChatGPTs Are Apparently Married
AI collaboration reaches a deeply unnecessary new level.
00:45:23 — Not So Bad Movie Month
After The Room, there may be nowhere lower left to go.
00:53:03 — Toy Story for the 80s
Asked whether there were movies like Toy Story when we were kids:
“Yeah. It was called Puppet Master.”
00:59:02 — Italian Horror Is Apparently Genetic
Watching Demons described as basically attending a family reunion.
01:29:17 — The Horror Challenge Becomes a Parts List
The challenge list gets folded up and shoved into a pocket like we’re heading back to the jobsite.

00:01:39 — Lions
Two games, one win, one beating, and the realization that the secondary needs help immediately.
00:05:03 — Airport Clip / Busted Punk
A viral airport confrontation turns into a discussion about running your mouth, crossing lines, and finding out the hard way that some people are done arguing.
00:08:01 — Widow’s Bay
Widow’s Bay reportedly takes home 14 Emmys, which turns into more praise for the show and another reminder that Apple TV’s smaller library has some damn good stuff.
00:11:01 — Horror Month Ideas
October planning starts early: horror scorecards, blind picks, movie challenges, dice, the hat, and trying to figure out a way to make Horror Month more than just “watch a bunch of horror movies.”
00:15:28 — Horror Music Ideas
Instead of a normal music draw, October may lean into horror themes, creepy soundtrack cuts and songs tied to horror movies.
00:21:04 — Supergirl — HBO
Millie Alcock as Supergirl, Jason Momoa as Lobo, some fun stuff, some goofy stuff, and one needle drop that absolutely does not work.
Rating: 3.5/5.
00:23:57 — The Room (2003) — Tubi
We finally did it.
After years of hearing about Tommy Wiseau’s legendary disaster, we watched The Room together and recorded a real-time commentary track.
The football. The sex scenes. The dialogue. Lisa. Johnny. None of it makes any sense, and somehow that still doesn’t explain how strange this movie is.
00:44:41 — Transformers: The Movie (1986) — In Theaters — 40th Anniversary
A big-screen 40th anniversary screening of Transformers: The Movie, plus a Peter Cullen tribute and one more reminder of how hard this movie still hits for people who grew up with it.
00:56:33 — L.A. Confidential — Prime Video
The long-awaited first watch finally happens.
Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, Kevin Spacey, Kim Basinger, Danny DeVito and one of the strongest noir mysteries of the 90s.
01:09:20 — Transcendence — Tubi
Johnny Depp, AI, digital immortality and a movie that feels a little more relevant now than it did when it came out.
Rating: 4/5.
01:15:12 — Munich — Prime Video
Spielberg’s 2005 thriller about the aftermath of the 1972 Munich Olympics attack and the covert retaliation that follows.
Heavy subject, great cast, and a movie built around revenge, consequence and moral fallout.
01:18:49 — The Social Network — Apple
The Fincher rabbit hole continues with Facebook, Zuckerberg, Aaron Sorkin dialogue and another reminder that David Fincher’s filmography is ridiculously consistent.
01:21:08 — The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo — Netflix
Fincher, Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig take us back into the world of Lisbeth Salander.
A dark mystery that leads directly into revisiting the original Swedish versions.
01:23:35 — Millennium — Prime Video
The six-part Swedish miniseries version of the Millennium trilogy.
Two episodes per story, covering The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest.
01:30:26 — Sleepers — Tubi
A 1996 favorite with Brad Pitt, Jason Patric, Billy Crudup, Ron Eldard, Kevin Bacon and a subject heavy enough that this one comes with a real “watch with caution” warning.
01:40:20 — Vinland Saga — Netflix
The first three episodes are in.
A slower burn than the more supernatural anime stuff, but the historical angle is working so far.
LISTS
01:43:55 — 15 Hidden Gem Thrillers on Tubi You Should Watch — Blood Star Movie
https://bloodstarmovie.com/hidden-gem-thrillers-on-tubi/
01:55:32 — 10 Movies That Are Almost as Bad as The Room, Ranked — Collider
https://collider.com/movies-almost-as-bad-as-the-room-ranked/
MGP MOMENTS
00:02:06 — “We were the power bottom.”
The Lions recap reaches its natural conclusion almost immediately.
00:12:41 — Horror Month Scorecard
Points for great kills, genuine scares and twists. Negative points for stupid decisions and “why the hell would you do that?” moments.
00:16:33 — Captain Howdy
Possible parenting advice for Horror Month: if you ever meet someone named Captain Howdy, run.
00:24:38 — “Back before we were a glory hole...”
A sentence that needed immediate clarification.
00:26:49 — The Room Sex Scenes
We attempt to understand the geography. We fail.
00:28:01 — Why Is Everyone Throwing a Football?
Arguments, tuxedos, alleys — apparently every emotional crisis in The Room can be solved by tossing a football.
00:30:17 — The Never Again List
The Room starts threatening movies we previously swore we would never watch again.
00:44:41 — Transformers on the Big Screen
The 40th anniversary turns into nostalgia, Peter Cullen and a movie that still knows exactly where to hit.
01:15:01 — The Room Nearly Claims the TV
“I almost sold my TV and just said we’ve done enough.”
01:40:20 — “Inland Saga”
Word takes one last shot at anime transcription. Vinland Saga survives.
01:55:43 — Collider vs. The Room
A list of movies supposedly almost as bad as The Room immediately starts a fight with the list itself.

We watched The Room so you don’t have to. But honestly, you probably should.
We sat down with Tommy Wiseau’s legendary masterpiece of questionable filmmaking and reacted to the whole thing in real time. No movie audio, no movie footage — just us trying to figure out what the hell we’re watching.
Grab your own copy, sync it up with us, and join the suffering.
You’re tearing us apart, Lisa.

00:01:04 — Patreon
Patreon gives MGP the boot without much of an explanation. The episode starts calmly and reasonably.
00:02:39 — The Immersive Dome
A look at the new Cosm-style immersive venue, giant dome screens, concerts, movies and sports — followed quickly by sticker shock over some of the ticket prices.
00:05:15 — Jason’s Birthday
A surprise birthday gift: two Lions tickets, 50-yard line, lower bowl. Jason immediately realizes he may have to rearrange work.
00:07:11 — Stevie Wonder
The 50th anniversary tour comes up, along with the increasingly painful reality of concert ticket prices.
00:08:52 — Oreo Taste Test
Deep Fried Oreos: not bad.
Banana Oreos: surprisingly okay.
Chicken & Waffles Oreos: a mistake against nature.
00:14:38 — The Runner — Prime Video
Both of us finally suffer through The Runner.
Bad camera work, a telegraphed plot, Gal Gadot running for what feels like an eternity, and the mystery of how this thing got made.
Final verdict: 1/5, mostly because people technically completed a movie.
00:28:03 — Challenge: The Room — Tubi
Next week’s challenge is set: Tommy Wiseau’s legendary The Room.
The only real question is whether Tommy Wiseau and Gal Gadot are secretly related.
00:31:56 — Eddie and the Cruisers — YouTube
A mediocre movie with a great soundtrack.
John Cafferty does most of the heavy lifting.
Roughly 2/5, but the music and vibe still make it worth talking about.
THRILLER MONTH
00:37:11 — The Usual Suspects — Prime Video
Kevin Spacey, noir atmosphere and one of the great mystery endings.
Spoiler warning applies heavily here.
Around 4–4.5/5 territory.
00:42:36 — L.A. Confidential — Prime Video
Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, Kevin Spacey, Kim Basinger, Danny DeVito and a stacked cast.
A top-tier noir mystery and one of the strongest movies discussed this month.
00:45:24 — Football
The NFL season gets underway and fantasy football immediately begins inflicting emotional damage.
00:47:36 — The Pledge — Prime Video
A quieter, darker Sean Penn mystery starring Jack Nicholson.
Less about flashy action and more about watching obsession and dread slowly take over.
01:00:35 — Mickey Rourke
A detour into Mickey Rourke’s career, charisma, The Wrestler, The Expendables, 9½ Weeks, Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, and why his short scene in The Pledge still hits.
01:06:05 — Awards / L.A. Confidential
L.A. Confidential’s Academy Award wins lead into a wider rant about award shows, prestige TV and what actually gets recognized.
LISTS

MGP MOMENTS
00:05:50 — “So I could just quit.”
Jason’s first practical solution to getting the Lions game off work.
00:10:42 — Chicken & Waffle Oreo Face
A cookie creates immediate regret.
00:17:07 — Oreo vs. The Runner
“What is worse, that Oreo or The Runner?”
00:22:03 — The Real Mystery
“The only mystery is how the fuck this got made.”
00:24:48 — Bad Movie vs. Shitty Movie
Sinbad can be bad and still fun.
The Runner is something else entirely.
00:25:24 — 84 Minutes That Felt Like Three Hours
The Runner officially begins warping time.
00:31:17 — Eat the Oreos or Watch The Runner Again?
The Oreos win on efficiency alone.
00:33:01 — Michael Paré + Gal Gadot
A hypothetical acting combination severe enough to threaten the human spirit.
00:38:28 — Usual Suspects Spoiler Warning
If someone spoils The Usual Suspects for you, apparently physical retaliation is now authorized.
00:44:17 — Se7en vs. L.A. Confidential
A legitimate argument breaks out over which one belongs higher.
01:03:42 — Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man
A terrible title. A dumb concept. Somehow still a good movie.
01:04:00 — “Nowhere. Want to come?”
Mickey Rourke apparently had enough charisma to make that line work on anybody.
01:31:44 — The Pledge Did Something to My Soul
Thriller Month becomes existential dread month.
01:35:38 — Gal Gadot or Tommy Wiseau?
The episode finds its new game show.
01:39:55 — How to Fix The Runner
Replace the movie, the cast and most of the footage.
Problem solved.

00:01:50 — This Week Was Fucked
Michigan weather, power outages, headaches, work, and Mother Nature deciding everyone needed a beating.
00:07:21 — Only the Media Gloryhole Matters
Apparently jobs, children, and basic responsibilities are now secondary to podcast preparation.
00:09:24 — TikTok / Anime Titles Have Gone Too Far
Fake anime titles somehow become believable enough that we start wanting to watch them.
00:12:46 — Burger King Dragon Ball Z
Jason buys kids’ meals for the Dragon Ball toys, starts collecting Goku and Vegeta, and immediately gets dragged for how deep into weeb territory he’s gone.
00:14:07 — Honest Kids Apple Juice Is Apparently a Crime
Water briefly introduced to an apple and sold as juice.
00:17:50 — Jason Is Such a Good Weeb
Goku, Piccolo, Beerus, Ultra Instinct and the slow realization that Anime Month may have permanently damaged us.
RANDOM MEDIA & RANTS
00:22:38 — Gal Gadot / The Runner
A thriller premise so ridiculous Jason almost watched the movie purely to complain about it. Tony volunteers to take one for the team next week.
00:26:08 — Summer Rant
Tony admits he likes summer.
This was a mistake.
The conversation eventually reaches lions, snakes, heat stroke and why apparently no animal actually enjoys being hot.
00:35:50 — Halloween Stuff
Halloween decorations, Christmas lights and the proposed Halloween Glory Hole Podcast.
00:40:18 — Bar S Hot Dogs: Why Is This a Thing?
Even dogs apparently have standards.
WHAT WE WATCHED
ANIME HANGOVER
00:55:09 — Attack on Titan — Crunchyroll
Jason finally finishes Attack on Titan. What starts as comparing it to Monster turns into a much bigger discussion about storytelling, morality, secondary characters and whether Eren was ever really the point of the story.
01:01:38 — The 10 Best Attack on Titan Characters, Ranked — Collider
Jason’s first Collider list.
By the end, Attack on Titan earns a hell of a compliment: even after watching some of the best movies ever made, Jason feels the series belongs in that kind of storytelling conversation.
NOT QUITE THRILLER MONTH YET
01:17:21 — The Mandalorian and Grogu — Disney+
Not terrible. Just bland. Star Wars may officially be running out of flavor.
01:19:40 — The Nice Guys — Blu-ray
Ryan Gosling, Shane Black, detective noir and exactly the kind of funny movie needed after the previous week.
THRILLER MONTH BEGINS
01:20:44 — Clue — Paramount+
Better than remembered, Tim Curry remains fantastic, and slapstick mystery gets its moment.
01:26:53 — Se7en — Paramount+
David Fincher, atmosphere, John Doe and one of the all-time great modern thrillers.
Jason: 5/5
Tony: 5/5
01:44:19 — The Pledge — Tubi
Jack Nicholson and Sean Penn. Less about catching a killer and more about watching a man slowly fall apart.
4/5
01:52:00 — Dressed to Kill — Tubi
Brian De Palma doing very Brian De Palma things: style, suspense, sleaze and an ending that could only come from that era.
MGP MOMENTS
00:07:24 — “Your life doesn’t matter. Only the Media Gloryhole matters.”
Strong new employee handbook material.
00:14:08 — Apple-Flavored Water
Honest Kids apple juice gets reviewed considerably harsher than several movies we’ve watched.
00:15:04 — “Master Bing Bong”
Beerus briefly receives a new canonical Dragon Ball name.
00:17:10 — “I Need Help. I’m Ashamed of Myself.”
Jason realizing the Burger King Dragon Ball toy hunt may have become a problem.
00:20:54 — Jason’s Secret Anime Website
Tentacles.com becomes TentacleSenpai.com and things rapidly deteriorate.
00:24:39 — Solving The Runner in About Thirty Seconds
“Get to a park and run around.”
This apparently defeats the entire movie premise.
00:31:19 — Tony Likes Summer
Jason reacts normally by explaining the emotional state of every overheated animal in Africa.
02:13:49 — Se7en Is 20 Years Old
Correction:
It is 30 years old.
Everyone immediately feels worse.

00:09:04 — Cloverleaf Pizza
A former 10/10 takes a slight tumble.
00:11:46 — Wheel of Time: Book 1 Leather Bound
The Eye of the World arrives. Greasy pizza hands are immediately declared a threat to Robert Jordan’s legacy.
WHAT WE WATCHED
00:21:18 — Steel Magnolias — Paramount+
Great movie. Absolutely terrible choice when trying to recover emotionally.
00:24:28 — The Whisper Man — Netflix
Good cast, decent serial-killer mystery, but way too familiar.
ANIME MONTH: FINAL ROUND
00:27:35 — The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System — Crunchyroll
Looks good. Didn’t grab us.
00:29:55 — Amon: The Apocalypse of Devilman — YouTube
Things get... extremely Devilman.
00:39:55 — Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You — Crunchyroll
A title that immediately leads us somewhere completely inappropriate before we actually discuss the show.
00:50:02 — Attack on Titan: Season 3 — Crunchyroll
Season 3 changes the game, the mythology gets considerably bigger, and Anime Month continues its hostile takeover.
Odd Taxi — Crunchyroll
One episode in.
The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects — Crunchyroll
I Became a Legend After My 10 Year Long Battle — Crunchyroll
From Overshadowed to Overpowered — Crunchyroll
01:22:07 — Paprika — Tubi
“You don’t need to be under the influence of anything to feel like you’re under the influence of everything.” Also: yeah, you can absolutely see the DNA that eventually shows up in Inception.
MGP MOMENTS
00:03:40 — “I’m like fucking Gandalf.”
Anime gatekeeping is rejected in favor of guiding people deeper into the nerd forest.
00:12:14 — Greasy Pizza Hands
The brand-new leather-bound Wheel of Time book is approximately 30 seconds old before pizza grease becomes the primary antagonist.
00:15:45 — The $110 Book vs. Macaroni & Cheese Economics
One of you is buying collector’s editions. The other is comparing macaroni and cheese prices.
01:22:40 — Paprika Without Drugs
“You don’t need to be under the influence of anything to feel like you’re under the influence of everything.”
02:17:47 — Anime Month Is Over. Allegedly.
Thanking anime fans quickly turns into accusations that somebody has secretly fallen completely in love with anime. Including the imaginary FaceTime-from-the-shower confession.
