Juliette Jones and her partner Jarvis Benson are instrumentalists who’ve provided the string section for Aretha Franklin’s commemoration of Nelson Mandela at the 2014 BET Honors, and creatively partnered with Red Bull Studios NY, Red Bull Studios NY, Beats by Dre, VH1 and Interscope Records. But at their core, their company Rootstock Republic is invested in a deeper legacy: building supportive spaces for string-players of color to follow in their footsteps. Juliette breaks down their vision and strategies to the #MedCab hosts and Jarvis introduces us to teaching techniques that employ “adaptable pedagogy.”
