Chris Toney volunteered as a bosun onboard our hospital ship in West Africa.

Dr. Mary Walsh is the Medical Director of the Cardiac Program at St. Vincent Medical Group of Indiana.  She’s served as president of the American College of Cardiology and makes advocacy a top goal.

Sai’Douba was a healthy 18-year-old in Guinea when a gas explosion changed his life.  Burns covered his entire body.  He couldn’t extend his legs and arms.

Dr. James Goodrich was recognized worldwide for his surgical skill.

Dr. Tertius Venter is a plastic surgeon from South Africa.  He’s volunteered with us frequently since 2000.  He describes his first experience.

Eight-year-old Nike Garza spent half his life—1,553 days, to be exact—in foster care.  Then David and Kristi Schwartz welcomed him into their family, which included two other children—one of whom is also adopted.

People often think that only medical professionals serve onboard our hospital ships.

The air conditioning broke down on our hospital ship, the Africa Mercy. Crew and patients quickly realized the ship was essentially a giant metal box heating in the African sun!  

Asya Branch entered her first beauty pageant at age 7.  But her Daddy was more concerned about inner beauty.  

Lt. Col. Glenn Mandeville is a physician assigned to the Air National Guard. The Guard serves the community, state, and nation.
