Our hospital ships take first-world surgical care to some of the poorest countries in the world. You may not be available to volunteer onboard our ships, but you can get involved.

Eva Rosalie is a surgeon in The Gambia.  She heard about our hospital ship’s mentoring opportunities for local doctors.  

Mercy Ships volunteer crew member Peter Ainsworth got a surprise phone call onboard the Africa Mercy. The previous year he had worked with a local day-worker called Louis Regin of Cameroon. 

We associate Labor Day with barbecues and other summer fun activities. But, maybe, we should take a moment to think about the difference our work makes to us and to others.

Rachel Olson volunteers as the facilitator of the Mercy Ships HOPE Center. It’s an off-ship facility for patients to stay while waiting for surgery or in post-op follow-up care. 

A woman in Florida witnessed a random act of kindness and posted photos on her Facebook page. She saw a police officer, Sergeant Erica Hay, having breakfast with a homeless man. 

Kirsten volunteers as an ICU nurse onboard our hospital ship, the Africa Mercy. She was frustrated because her patient, Victoria, rarely smiled, never spoke, and kept her face turned to the wall most of the day.
