Carys has lived in developing nations for most of her life.  In fact, she grew up on our hospital ships, and her father is a wonderful surgeon.

In November 2015, 16-year-old Lauren Seroyer was sitting in a high school cafeteria in Georgia.  She was eating the free breakfast available to all students.  A friend asked her for some of her food.  He said there wasn’t much food at his home.

The Mercy Ships transportation team was having fun.  They were testing a couple of their off-road trucks by trawling through mud and bushes.  It was a great weekend expedition.  They were in the middle of nowhere with nothing but wildlife and each other for company … or so they thought.

An 11-year-old boy visited Normandy, France, in 2014 for the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion.  He wore a World War II-style uniform and took his American flag to Omaha Beach.  He planted it in the sand and faced the ocean. 

We help as many patients as possible during every field service.  A volunteer pediatric orthopedic doctor reflects on the results.

Sam Rayburn served for more than 48 years in the United States House of Representatives, including 17 years as Speaker.  Despite his busy schedule, he always had time for friends.

A 12-year-old girl in a remote part of Cameroon had a chance to get a free surgery to save her life.  But the hospital ship was hundreds of miles away, and her family couldn’t travel without proper identification.  Time was of the essence!

The orphanages in Bucharest, Romania, are full.  So, over 4,000 children live underground in roach-infested, disease-ridden storm sewers.
