Mercy Ships volunteer Mirjam first saw little Siara at a patient screening in the Congo.  The one-year-old baby weighed just 7 pounds and had a cleft lip and palate.

A man was installing large stone steps in his backyard.  His five-year-old daughter begged to help.  He suggested that she sing a song to encourage him.  She said, “No.  I want to HELP!”

Nurse Jenica Gammie volunteered onboard our hospital ship, the Africa Mercy, in the Republic of Congo.

Casimiro Rodriguez was homeless on the streets of McAllen, Texas.  His family had kicked him out because of his addiction to drugs and alcohol.  He decided to escape it all by getting on the first bus he could find.

Becky Bynum has served with Mercy Ships for more than 25 years.  She makes sure our hospital ship has the medical supplies it needs.  She describes her reaction to a sermon on commitment that changed her life.

It was Mercy Ships patient selection day in Africa.  Fifteen-year-old Mtombomzi sat alone, with her head bowed.  A handkerchief covered her birth defect – a deformed nose.  Volunteer surgeon Dr. Gary Parker assured the girl and her mother that an operation would change the shape of the nose.

An urgent call came to the missionary clinic in Papua New Guinea.  An aviation mechanic named Steve Parker had fallen 25 feet and was seriously injured.  The medical team rushed to the airfield.  They stabilized Steve and began the agonizing ride down the pothole-filled road to the clinic.
