Opportunities for mercy may be in your own backyard. Leslie Ring of Allyn, Washington, saw a need in her neighborhood, and she found a way to help.

Fifaliana’s bent and twisted legs required her mother to carry her to school each day. But the bright, bubbly ten-year-old had a joyful spirit ... a special gift. You see, God gave Fifaliana remarkable artistic talent. Her love of drawing became a merciful retreat. She drew and colored while other children played outside during recess.

Martyred missionary Jim Elliot said, “Wherever you are, be all there! Live to the hilt every situation you believe to be the will of God!” Our Mercy Ships crew are doing precisely that. Crewmember Emma Heatley, an accountant onboard the Africa Mercy, says it this way.

Maureen is a Computer Business Analyst from South Africa who volunteered to serve in the housekeeping department onboard our Mercy Ship. As she packed, she prayed that God would also use her in other ways, and a few odd items ended up in the suitcase … including lesson plans for children’s math.
