Katie Fish is a top producing agent in the tri-cities of northern Illinois, best known for her shining personality and affinity for the number 108. If there's anyone that can teach us about authenticity and owning who you are, it's Katie. In the animal kingdom there are predators and there are prey, the same is true in business. The only difference is that in business every single person thinks they're the predator and that's simply not true. This episode explores how some of your seemingly harmless habits can actually be turning you into prey.
Do you ever find yourself intimidated by certain other individuals? It's a common feeling but as we explore in this episode, it's also extremely avoidable. Especially once you begin to understand intimidation as something that only exists in the eye of the beholder.
We also take some time to think about the fade of intimidation in effective leadership and the switch to more vulnerable leaders that can actually connect with their people.
Today we get to spend some time with Pete Economos. Together Caryn & Pete runs 5 Market Centers, a Business Center and the two show zero signs of slowing down anytime soon. Here's the thing though, opportunities like these were all available to more people than just Pete and Caryn. The two make the argument that it's not just about recognizing opportunity, you also have to be in a good position to take advantage of it and if you're waiting for the opportunity to show up first, it'll be too late.
It's our opinion here at The Messy Empire that achieving your true potential starts with a strong sense of Self-Worth. We also recognize that it is incredibly difficult to recognize that you have a diminished sense of self-worth. Don't worry, this has zero to do with positive psychology and everything to do with asking yourself incredibly difficult questions.
We're trying something a touch different today. Caryn fires off her 8 favorite quotes and explains how you should use them as affirmations to help you get closer to your dreams.
“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” ― Mahatma Gandhi
“Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right.” ― Henry Ford
“Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.” ― Robert Kennedy
“Some Will, Some Won't, So What, Next!” ― The Call Centre. (TV SHOW)
“Those convinced against their will are of the same opinion still.” ― Dale Carnegie
“Yes is the Answer! What is the Question?" ― Cameron Mitchell
“The question is not 'who is going to let me,' it’s 'who is going to stop me?' " ― Ayn Rand (The Fountainhead)
“Your opinion of me is none of my business" ― Coco Chanel
Today we're going to talk about Hank Aaron and Melanie Griffin. Well at least in a round about way. Caryn makes a compelling case that perhaps the answer to your problems lies in simply getting more chances or as Caryn puts it "More At Bats". If you want to sell more houses, go on more appointments. If you want to make more connections, talk to more people. And as Hank Aaron has proved if you want to send more runners home, you just need more At Bats.
With Real Trends reporting that Caryn & Pete's company has grown nearly 700% of the last few years it's easy to see they're doing something right. In this case they're doing a lot of somethings right. Caryn breaks it down for us and takes to through her decision making process that lead her to the dynamic partnership her and Pete have today. It's 1 part ambition, 1 part strategy and 2 parts mess.
Today Caryn and special co-host Cindy Windeler give us a lesson in leadership that has implications far outside of just our business lives. What separates good teams from great teams? 9 times out of 10 it's the leader but too many leaders spend their time managing and making decisions that the their team is perfectly capable of making. Break the management habit and today.
Have you ever worked with a sibling? What about a sister and your mother at the same time? Today Caryn and her Sister share their long lineage of powerful women in Real Estate and all of the changes they've personally been witness to. The dynamic is electric and there's something in here for everyone.
